Would you trade white gold Daytona Oysterlex

For a steel AP Royal Oak 15500 slate or grey dial ?
I have other Daytona’s including the green dial but have never been able to get my hands on a Royal Oak at retail , now I’m considering trading the white gold version for the AP
They seem to both have similar grey market prices so I’d be hoping it would a straight swop .

The AP is certainly a step up in horology and finish. I prefer the 41 chrono though, as per my signature.

Not sure about that one. Feels like you are losing. These APs have went up too much too soon for my liking. Would be tempted to sell your Daytona and find an AP as a cash buyer.

Yes if straight swap and comparable age/condition.

i personally would because AP on bracelet >>>> most other watches on bracelet let alone rubber, but the premiums on them are insane (although not worse than a lot of steel rolexes % wise). i don't think they'll get any better though because even the most plain ROs are extremely hard to get so it's just up to you on whether you think the value is there. worst case though you can get out of it at a minimal loss if you don't like it

I would not, the WG Oysterflex with the silver dial is amazing, this watch now is in a very high demand. The AP is just a SS watch, your Rolex is a keeper for me. Another story would be the blue jumbo.

I personally would not. The WG Daytona is very nice and I find the proportions on the 15500 slightly off

Sure but I think there should be a few grand of cash coming your way in that trade

Edit: I guess I didn’t realize where 15500s are trading at. Holy…

Depends on your collection. If you have an AP already, don’t do it. If you already have other Rolexes but no APs, you should do it.

No way. Wg Daytona oysterflex steel dial is one of best looking watches. Love AP but think the grey royal osk is not worth the money they are asking for what you get.

I have the silver dial SS 15500 and a rose gold oysterflex daytona, and prefer the Daytona 100%. Better proportions, and importantly, it's more wearable. The AP gets dinged up just looking at it. Bracelet is obviously nice, but I think the Daytona is more elegant.

Not in a million years. Sure, the AP is a higher piece of horology and it’s a beautiful watch. But if getting into a higher end watch doesn’t matter to you, I’d not spend another second debating this.

The WG OF Daytona is a total stunner and I’d never trade it for a standard SS Royal Oak. The OF makes it infinitely more wearable as well.

Either let the RO hype die off, or let it go. There is craziness abound in the market, but paying over double retail for a SS Royal Oak takes the cake in terms of craziness. At least IMO…

I think the finishing and horology on the AP is on a whole different level. Almost like comparing a high end bmw/Mercedes to a low end Ferrari. I would do it

I'd do the swap personally. AP bracelet is something else.

+1 Peter. AP finishing and quality is on another level. I've owned both and would pick the AP 10 out of 10 times. Plus you could always put a rubber strap on it if you missed the OF. I am a bigger fan of the 15400 or 15202 than the 15500 though.

IMHO Oysterflex is a rubber band....would take the AP with bracelet. Having said that, a WG Daytona with bracelet would never leave my collection.
