Watch authentication

Hello Guys,

Quick technical question:

I'm currently selling my d-blue 126660, full set with everything including the purchase bill at my name, and the potential buyer still wants to make it authenticated before buying (which i can understand considering the price).

No problem for me except if for this we'll need to open the watch and check the movement, and consequently reinstate/recheck all the sealing.

Can't I just walk in a boutique and make them check the serial number on the watch and on the card against what they have in their system?
They will surely find me as the buyer in their log, won't they?

Have you experienced this, and have you paid to authenticate your watch?

Cheers

Have the potential buyer verify with the AD you purchased the watch from.

If the buyer wants the watch authenticated then its up to him/her to pay any fees that may occur IMHO.

It is for the buyer to verify the watch.

If he wants to have the watch opened it has to be done by and at an OFFICIAL Rolex AD or RSC.

The watch has to be resealed and trested afterwards.

ALL of that has a cost ... The cost shoyld be borne by the buyer if the watch is found to be genuine.
It should be down to you if it is NOT genuine.

I don't think any place other than where you bought it would have any record of you buying it. If you bought it from an AD and have a receipt along with the standard paperwork for the watch, find another buyer.

100% agree with this.

If you have the original purchase receipt & warrantee card in your name what’s his issue???

Most people would accept what you have as good enough.

Plenty more people looking for a DBlue - sack him off!

Cheers

As above. Lots of potential buyers out there who will accept the evidence you can already supply. If a buyer wants to take the back off it's at their risk and expense, post purchase. The only exception being if it is found to be not genuine.

I would beware of this apparent suspicion. The buyer could be genuinely cautious but it could be a set up. Best to avoid, given that it's a sellers' market.

Your paperwork is more then adequate and fully acceptable without the need to “ take the back off”,,
Seems like your potential buyer is already looking for a way to knock you down,,,
Walk away and let someone else purchase,,,

If the buyer is high maintenance then there could be more complaining even after it is verified authentic.

A PPI is always at the cost of the buyer no matter what.

Can any AD verify via serial number, where the watch was purchased?

No. I tried this once and the AD told me they can’t do this. Rolex won’t give the info over the phone either. You have to go in person to an RSC.

If box, links, warranty card, and original sales receipt isn’t good enough, I would outright tell the buyer you do mmy want to deal with him.

Walking into Rolex will do you no good. They are not “authorized” to open up watches and do that sort of thing. I asked for a grey watch I purchased.

They could have been being dicks, but also seems accurate considering most their up tight policies and risk on their part.

Sell to a grey dealer. Way less hassle. Yes you will get less for it but it will be hassle free compared to selling privately.

I sold 2 watches privately and never again. The hoops buyers want you to go through are ridiculous and endless
