I would regard that as a big In with the AD really.

They might take care of you since your hospital connections have made you part of ‘me and mine’ to them.

It’s just human nature.

First the relatives, friends then the big VIPs, lesser VIPs and down all the way to a walk in whose face nobody knows and whose purchasing power and desires are uncertain.

Sorry to break it to you, but average male life expectancy at 69 is 15 years. Add the fact that Rolex owners skew towards various factors that increase life expectancy, and you may have to wait until you're 47

Very odd way to treat a customer though. i imagine you won’t be super motivated to spend more money with them.

I think they also remember the guys that were buying Rolex before all the hype of the last few years , people that bought a watch a year for the last 10 years from the same AD will still be able to get the hot models before someone walking in with 50k to spend

Totally agree
New faces to the party will be looked after with spend but faces that were there before will not have to play them games to be looked after

3K lol. I have spent 15k at my AD and fully understand that is like the 50-70 percentile and in no way gets me close to “hot” watches. Fortunately for me I have the watches I want. Unfortunately for you, reality will soon set in that 30-50k is likely the starting point for establishing your relationship. Or a ton of luck.

Spending the current market grey rate for a 'hot watch' on non-Rolex items would be closer to the mark. Hence why some people just skip the shopping spree and go 'grey'. Unless you had other items you wanted concurrently.

For the OP, I stand by my initial statement and here’s some proof. A friend of mine stopped in an AD near his house two years ago with his wife and talked to a sales associate and the owner about wanting to get a BLNR as a marker for when all the kids were out of the house and off to college. The AD told him they would put him on their call list, but it might take a few years. He checked in a couple times a year (stopping in and calling), and just a few weeks ago, got the call!

This made me go to YouTube to watch that opening again because it is that good.

Are you joking? $3k to get on a list for those watches? Also to come in with a list asking for things seems a bit aggressive for the first time meeting.

my advice - go buy an Omega and be happy. or a Zenith.

if u want a rolex Gmt or Daytona. you ain't got a chance with $3k spending "spree".

however i kinda understand where this all comes from. just 4 years ago, i was shopping around several AD's in nyc metro and could easily see a black Sub for sale, in the store. and all the sales staff were eager to grab my attention, asking me to please just try on that damn Sub and consider opening up my wallet.

crazy to think that was just 4 years ago.

u know what's more crazy? used car prices. my uncle sold his Chevy SUV for $20k more than what he paid for 2 years ago, back to the same dealer he bought it from, with over 30k miles.

can't believe a sales rep would tell his clients something like this. this is disgusting..

btw, people that have the means to drop $250k on jewelry / watch store in a year - do these folks even want a SS rolex?

if I was a baller like that, a SS rolex GMT would be the last thing on my mind.

Why such quickness to be outraged?

In the absence of context, it is not absolutely certain that it was disgusting of the SA to say this to the poster.

The Sales Rep was making a genuine point that’s very valid. Big spenders get the pieces over a low spender. They were just being transparent. Places like Harrods in London have people who spend way way into the millions per year.

And yes, big spenders still want SS models. If not for themselves, then for their wife/gf/bf/son/daughter/maid/chauffeur…..

the way this sales rep phrased it - just screams of extreme greed and arrogance.

just not done in good taste, especially for someone supposedly in a "sales" role.

I know some ballers in real life. the top guys at my company clear high seven figures a year.

these guys are into exotic vacations, mansions in the Hamptons, 2nd / 3rd vacation homes in Hawaii, Rolls Royce, private parties on friends' yachts, etc.

a $10k rolex watch does not excite these types of folks, I can tell you.

If you tell the AD you want all the hot references you won’t get anywhere.

Next time ask about just one.

A list like that screams “flip” even if you are genuine.

Everyone different but my friend don't care for ss so he would sell those and keep the pm watches. They also only buy new and 3k isn't even enough for sales tax on a bag for wife. Ring is 500k+, want new Patek, drop 750k on 7 watches to skip the list on a day.

There is hope OP.

I sent inquiry to an AD at 6:55am. Got a call at 2pm.

We had a 20 min chat, realized I’m a watch junkie - said let me call you back.

5 min later I was told they had a Sub for me.

Drove across the state the next morning to get it.

Good AD’s are out there. Don’t ask for a Daytona.

But as mentioned, they’ll happily give them to their minions
