2021: Buying POLAR or BLRO

Hello guys,

I need to ask you opinion of buying Rolex in 2020. As time is very strange and unpredictable.

My experience with Rolex rule of thumb:
1) later you buy, more expensive it gets later
2) Nail the bigger watch first, then buy the smaller watch later

Usually following above rules I have yet regretted but during these past 5yrs, I spend my money on other hobbies, I watched Polar 216570 from used 5000 price shooting up. Ceramic BLRO ppl said price will eventually drop cuz it is crazy now but right now it is highest as ever shooting 20K+.

I have no relationship with an AD, and in the past I always buy mine here in TRF with good prices but as of late due to demand, prices here is pretty similar to Chrono24 without much price break.

Right now I can pull the trigger on Polar.
Give me two more month I can pull trigger on BLRO.

Eventually I’ll end up with BOTH before I die but as of 2021, which should I buy FIRST is a smarter move? I think after release of 226570 with a disappointment release, Polar 216570 price is still crazy but slightly more reasonable than BLRO.

It is hard to predict the future but would you buy in 2021? Which would you buy? Or you’ll not buy both cuz right now prices simply too crazy. How to buy smart? Going AD isn’t an option for me.

Well, many would argue those two statements contradict one another. If you MUST buy from the market, then all you can do is buy the watch you love the most. The one which you will not care if you lose money on it. You simply must have it and price is irrelevant. The only "smart" buy, financially, is to get at MSRP through an AD.

If I want a watch I buy it.

I have no idea how to help you.

Just buy what you really like out of these two first, they're both very popular and fantastic references, I get that you want opinions on TRF but then we all have different tastes/style/preferences, so eventually it is up to you, just pick one and go with it.

So in y’all opinion, doesn’t matter which comes first?
Choosing one or the other first won’t help me saving a little?

Just buy whichever you like best.
As you’ve seen, prices are only continuing to rise and I don’t see that changing. Especially with the holidays approaching there will likely be even more demand.

Why would this matter?

It is a watch, you either want it or you dont

Lol Save? The faster you buy the piece you want the more you will “save”. People waiting to “save” on a blro when it was around 16k are kicking themselves in the bum right now. Same when ss daytona was still under 20k..

Since the prices of both seem to be continually rising in the gray market, buy both at the same time if you want to "save"?

I would suggest buy the Pepsi first. It’s a harder watch to get and the price will escalate faster than the Polar Ex2. The Ex2 42mm rules out certain demographic with smaller serial size so your competition is less.

I personally see Polar price "might" take a dip. 3 years ago price skyrocketed due to speculation of EXP2 will get discontinued during 50 anniversary but the new one came out with minor chnge.

Due to 42mm large size, EXP2 226570 wasn't one of the best selling model before speculation. "Maybe" will take a while for the market to respond?

This^^^

Watches shouldn't be purchased for investments, but I, as well as others on TRG, understand why we all would like to "save" money when purchasing.
That being said, I would buy today if you want either of those two, with the slight edge going to the BLRO if you like them equally. Some seem to think prices will drop, but I just don't see it happening ANYTIME in the near future.
Life is short. Enjoy it.
Sláinte!

Polar is far nicer.
Skip the BLRO entirely.
Hopefully in a few more years you will smarten up and get a TT DJ or Skydweller.

Buy the BLRO grey now and put your name down at an AD for the polar. The latter should not be impossible.
