Guidance on Vintage Gold Rolex Pricing

Has anyone purchased from TheRealReal?

Was considering this generically listed 18k gold rolex for $15.5k - wondering if it's priced competitively? Thanks!

Collection: Oyster Perpetual
Model Name: Day-Date
Reference Number: 1803
Serial Number: 38*****
Production Year: Circa 1974

Based on no particular scientific research that seems about fair for retail, if the bracelet is complete (and authentic). Any extras with it?

Of course somebody will pipe up saying they can find "cheaper" or "better"... in which case I'd challenge them to drop a link.

Personally based on this one photo I would pass on it. Bezel looks over polished and the lugs look a bit soft too.. I wouldn't be shocked if the bracelet is over polished too. Try and get some more photos.

Thanks all! They wont let me post a link cause I am new - but you can piece together this URL. It sold - but I am looking for a vintage 18k president band 34-36M rolex. I don't want to break the bank and the pricing varies so wildly.

If you post this after the real real DOT com - you can see the item:

Oops, cross- posted.

If you like that, search through Chrono24 for Rolex 1803, or in that price range, maybe a newer 18038 or 18238.

Let us see what you consider …

So to answer your question, I would say NO !

If the watch wasn't so over polished and in good working condition, it should cost 13-15 K

Like said, watch the forum,IG,chrono24

I am browsing through, but don't see the president band on the 1803, while the one I shared does have that. What is the difference?

This one looks good on Chrono24 - similar price, thoughts?

The President band is/was offered on (a few) 36mm gold Datejusts and (mostly) on Day-Dates. Both these also came with straps or other bracelets, you just have to choose one with a President (or buy a watch and source a bracelet separately, but that’s probably not worth the trouble).
1803 is the Day-Date from about 1960 to 1977, without quickset, then 18038 with single quickset until 1988, then 18238 with double quickset until 2000. They all look very similar. Single/double quickset is handy if you will not be wearing it every day, otherwise less important.

Looks very nice. Not MIB, but pretty good for 39! All the links are present, not badly polished.

I’d ask for some outdoor-light photos, and one of them holding the bracelet out horizontally (they’ll know what you mean). Also ask about any service history and guarantee, and get any guarantee in writing. There is nothing in the text, but a 1- or 2-year guarantee is a reasonable request.
