6511b Thoughrs?

Hello Everyone!

I’m a massive fan of vintage day dates. Having acquired a 60s yellow gold, 70s white gold, I now need a rose gold piece. I just acquired this 59 6511b. Anything I should know?

The only thing I have to say is I want it. I like you thinking YG, WG, RG, . I also have the first 2 and missing the 3rd. BYW those alpha hands are to die for, and the overall pristine condition.

Congrats !!

I'm sorry to say that the lugs finishing looks all wrong. They should be brushed, as all the 4-digits Day-Dates are, and not completely polished.

Have a look at this one that DP has for sale: https://davideparmegiani.ch/it/watch/rolex-6511b-2/

I wouldn't say it's wrong. When it was new 50 - 60 years ago it would have been brushed, but gold is soft so these get easily sleeve-polished over time. It could be that.

Sure, it's been polished before and the case isn't as sharp as it would have been originally, but I'm liking it. Love those coffin-style markers

While not factory, polished are an alternative to boring old brushed lugs.. Always remember its your watch, not Rolex or the forum originality Nazis. :)

I'm just hoping you're not referring to me with that word.

I have absolutely no idea who you are. As far as that "word" 20 years use of the term 'grammar nazi' has pretty well blunted any negative connotation it might have had. Here in the US certain people call any politician they disagree wirh nazi constantly, Take it easy. :)

I had it serviced by Dallas RSC in 2006 and this is how it left there, Forgive me Rolex elves, I haven't even seen this watch in over three years! It's in a cold, dark bank box

I'm the one that in the post immediately above yours noted that the watch has the incorrect finishing.

And, BTW, here in Europe we tend to use the "Nazi" word with a grain of salt. It's not something we like to use lightly.

Welcome to my ignore list.
