Rolex never ‘announce’ anything.

References just quietly disappear from the catalogue & AD’s get told they are no longer able to order them

Funny how all of them are selling and not buying. Hmmm. If it’s such low risk, there should be ZERO for sale because values are going to double soon.
Your logic doesn’t work. How can they not be buyers while also having inventory to sell… think about it

If they have a watch THEY CLAIM will be worth 2X next year, why are they selling now for X? Why not buy more at X?

Because they have to move inventory and not invest in it.

And they have to move it because they have NO RATIONAL BASIS to predict it will be discontinued any time soon.

To the moon!

But really, I don't think anyone knows. The buyers of a Platona may be pretty different from many of the buyers of a stainless Daytona and their appetite for price increases may or may not be similar.

They’ll never discontinue the Platinum Daytona, or DD for that matter, because of the Muslim market. Depending on how devout one is, Muslim men can’t (shouldn’t) wear yellow gold, so the Platinum pieces fit that scenario.

I don’t think to will be discontinued.
But it will likely go up in price regardless.
