It's what you're used to and what you were brought up with as well.

Brown shoes were always a thing to avoid..now it's common and still wrong to my eyes.

Nowadays, it’s very common to see guys wearing an Apple Watch on an ugly rubber strap with a suit. Sometimes it’s a white strap or one of those multi colored fabric straps they come with. I don’t think the watch itself is an issue, but the straps they choose look awful (IMHO).

I think a BLRO looks much better. My 2 cents…

They should consider getting a nice black leather strap to wear it with a suit.
