Marks on inside of Jubilee clasp - Quality Control Issue or Normal

I have a couple marks on the inside of my jubilee clasp (126334). There are two black marks where the “teeth” of the clasp lock into the other side. The marks are black.

It doesn’t bother me much, but curious if this was normal wear and tear, or an anomaly and something I should contact Rolex about. Would appreciate input from fellow owners.

Normal. Just checked - all 3 of my clasps have same/similar marks in that area. Pretty sure it's from the contact point(s) from closing the locking mechanism.

A couple of things spring to mind. Firstly, Rolex places plastic sheathing over that section of the clasp at the factory precisely for that reason, keeping the two parts separated just enough with a micron or two of vinyl. Therefore, if your thread is suggesting that you bought this watch and the very moment you received it those marks were present, then there is only one explanation. The watch had its stickers removed, was worn multiple times, clasp opened and closed numerous times (exhibition piece?) and then it was sold to you.

If however you noticed this days or even hours later, the abrasive metal to metal of that area of the clasp is completely normal and will appear on the surface of the polished sections immediately once the decals are removed.

Thanks - I’ve had this piece for about a year and a half, and wear it regularly. Agree it would be a cause for concern if this was the case for a new watch.
