Rolex 1655 Explorer II very suspect
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1970s-RO...3%3A1|294%3A50
How does the guy think anyone will fork out $10,500 for a watch they can't even see the dial, it's just beyond belief. Says he is selling it for someone else.... Typical scam line, so when it goes pear shape, he says 'it wasn't my watch'. Anyway, the dial looks very suspect as the coronet printed on the dial doesn't look right (from the blurry photo) The crown itself looks wrong too. Dudes like that should have their account cancelled permanently by ebay IMHO.

The patina even looks off to me. it looks like that yellowing that the fake makers like to do.
I agree, this needs to go to the can!

Notice the serrations on the crown, they are very untypical of Rolex. Looks like the size of a triple lock but it should be a twin lock.
Looks like someone got the buzz saw angle grinder out onto the crown guards

The crown looks okay as it appears to be unscrewed, but the crown guards do look wrong. This seller hasn't sold anything even in the same ballpark as a fancy watch like this. Comic books and game system games. So this makes me even more suspect of the watch. The dial is throwing off the read flags for me.

Frank that is right, might be an account hi-jack.
The coronet on the dial should be the frog hand style, but it don't look anything like that.

...toooooo many questionable issues...
...it's amazing that the seller can take CLEAR, in-focus pic's of the back and box, but NOT the dial. ...smells to me! |

I don't know what happened Frank but the auction is in fact still up and running maybe I made a mistake before thinking it had been removed.

I do not believe the dial is real...
As Frank said the color of the markers is way off, typical of the fakerrrooos. I would want to see the movement. Here is mine for comparison ---> |

...the watch in question is COUNTERFEIT...
...notice the diameter of the case and the FACT that the bezel does NOT OVER-LAP the case sides like it should.
...additionally, if you look at the font and placement of the wording on the dial, it is INCORRECT. |
