Need advice on nasty ding - laser welding etc

That’s a fair whack, if you take it to RSC they will find damage well outside their parameters, like dial damage etc.

First of all sorry you dinged your watch because the first one always hurts the most. Second you need to get over it and move on. You obviously bought this watch to wear not sit in a safe so dings and scratches are going to happen. I have had a rolex on during a high speed motor cycle crash that ended up with me being on lifeflight and even lost another Rolex in a river for a few weeks from a wakeboarding spill. You never know what life is going to throw at you. To send a watch in just for cosmetic reason is throwing away good money. Give it a few years till it stops working then send it in and it will come back looking like new. For now just enjoy your watch and dont worry about the next ding because if you dont ding or scratch it your not enjoying it properly.

OP - First and foremost, I'm so sorry that this happened to you!

It appears that there is also a crack in the end-link, right by the spring-bar, that attaches to the lug that was dented. Did you notice that as well?

I'd say that regardless of what you decide to do with the case, you may want to get that end-link checked, I would hate for the crack to widen or something and cause the spring-bar to pop out and your watch to fall again, or worse...get lost.

I hope this is a joke, laser welding will probably be under 600. I imagine a new case would be around 2-3k or more. I’ve seen the before and after on the welding, looks like a winner to me.



I’ve been tracking it, now is +6 a day

Pretty good all things considered lol


Right now I don’t care, I’ll do all this when it’s due for service. Probably get it welded then off to my local RSC


Years ago this would have made me sad, I’m older now and understand life’s full of dents and dings Haha
