Face size 36 v 40 v 41
Hi guys,
Does anyone have an idea of the actual difference in face size between say the “original” dj or exp1 vs the rest of the sports line or the 41 models. I tried on the 36 and the 41 djs the other day and I can’t help thinking the 36 is a lovely size, and the 41 looked large.. but perhaps this is because I’m used to the 36 ratios and the larger 41 was always sports models with bezels to counter the face. Ie maybe it’s just the unfamiliarity that made it look large. I’ve had quite a few sports so not unfamiliar with the larger size in general but more so that it’s with the dj look. This got me thinking what the actual face size different is between models as that’s where your eyes are drawn to, and the rest is just surrounding metal. I couldn’t find this in previous searches, does anyone know what the face dimensions are? Thank you in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

DateJust 36 is classic and DateJust 41 is more modern, the actual size of 41 is a bit less than 40mm.
Get the one that sings to you the most.

I had a DJII (precursor to DJ41) and traded it in on a DJ36. DJ36 size and ratios are perfect, DJII tried too hard and was too big. As for actual dial size, no clue.

Dj2 proportion just looks awful- very retarded looking-36 is nice and 41 is ok but not as nice in proportion - wonder if they will come up with 38?

I believe that the 36mm models have a 30mm face. The 40mm "Professional" line have the same face size. Not sure about the 41mm Sub, though, and I'm assuming the 40mm DD has a larger face (closer to the DJ41).
This is why the DJ/OP41 wear so much larger - they're "all dial" compared to similarly sized models with graduated bezels, that have more balance. |

The whole narrative concerning watch sizes is subjective. There should be a sticky on this forum with rules about threads started. Something along the lines of “I have a x inch wrist but prefer y mm watches”. At least then we would understand the rationale behind the projected opinions.

Sorry to have bored you, thanks for the input. I realise you’ve been around for a while and tire of size posts. I had not mentioned wrist size at all. The direct question was about face size which, apparently, is not common knowledge despite the fact it’s the part we look at more than anything else. Following that i was thinking about the ratio of surrounding metal to the said face size. Perhaps some would see it as a relevant question and perhaps as pertinent as ppl mentioning 36, 40 or 41 to begin with.. All for fun and learning something new.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you for offering to help, I think this looks like case sizes for the cases that the dials go into as opposed to the dial size themselves. Thank you anyway Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My DJ collection consists of a number of DJ2’s and a couple of DJ36.
Each have their own appeal. I don’t agree at all that the DJ2 looks out of proportion, mine are however all baton dial variants and for a large DJ they look right to my eye. If a DJ2 isn’t to your taste then the 36 or 41 are the ones to go for dependant on what size best fits your wrist and the look you prefer, because proportionally, they are the same, but remember the 41 isn’t a true 41 mm watch. It comes up smaller, where as the DJ2 is knocking on the door of 42mm. |

The descriptions underneath are the models. But the lines show the face sizes. |
