Why get rid of “AP” logo?

I just don’t get it. It was their signature on the dial for a long time and really drew me to their watches initially. I guess they are trying to clean up the dials to make them more empty but I’m not sure I like it.

Imagine if there was no “crown” above Rolex ? It would look super odd and I think it does on these new models.

I agree, they are pretty small on my 44 ROO and my old ROC, so they are not intrusive and just add that little panache to the dial.

Less elements = less costs = better juicy profits.

16202 still has "AP" and Audemars piguet text imprinted.

All the new watches that launched today that does not have the "AP" has the Audemars piguet text not imprinted on a material sheet, but carved out of a material as individual letters. It has to be of a certain size to be able to do that technically. The first time they tried doing it was on the code 1159s. Technically it is more time-consuming and costly.

I think it might be a design decision to not include the "AP" and the Carved out "Audemars piguet (which needs to be of a certain size")

my 2cents

It costs more, because now the Audemars Piguet is carved out and applied, instead of printed on the dial.

What do you mean? They use their galvanic process for the Text and have removed the logo.

Would assume the AP logo will be reserved for more special references on a go-forward.

Grey market pricing for ROs with the AP logo are about to skyrocket.

I’m also baffled why AP decided to remove the AP logo.

I think AP is changing their design language with dials, making them cleaner.
With the new 43mm Offshore, the only logo being the "AP"
and the new royal oaks with just a 1 liner of "Audemars Piguet"

Honestly digging the new dial design, especially on the new 41mm ROC, where it elaborates the chronograph subdials.

The spacing of the 41mm ROC subdials looks too far apart. I think now the 38mm is the nicer model and nicely balanced.

I gotta chime in.

I think it wasn’t a good move to remove the AP logo from the dial.

But at the very least I think they should’ve added ‘Le Brassus’ like Patek has ‘Geneve’ on their dials.

Dial seems just a bit empty

Patek are made in Genève, but in Plan Les Ouates… perhaps they should write that on the dial.

I think the new Audemars Piguet logo is just too time consuming and costly to make already, they don’t have the capacity to put on two extra letters. If you watch some of their videos on how their dials are made and components are assembled, you’d realize each small component is time and $$$
