Yeah, the watch is history if a bar works itself out and it is not noticed. They are fully uncrewed to the depth of the thread which is really not much so the protrusion can be small and not noticed until the bars falls out.

Wishing you luck finding it. I'm gutted for you and can't imagine how you feel.

A good reminder for everyone to inspect their watch for loose screws and get your watch(es) insured.

Thank you again everyone for the kind words. We are at the second spot now and I’ve got another person who joined the search with second metal detector. Will post again in a Couple hours. Temperature up a bit at 17 and sun is beaming so makes it a little easier I guess.

Wonder if whomever sized it failed to use loctite when replacing the screws?

Sounds about right. Probably in a hurry or not properly trained.

yes, don't give up the search. Can you file a police lost report? There's a possibility if someone found it they would turn it in.

My step-son lost a gold cross his father gave him, on the baseball field. I spent a good couple of hours combing the area. Nothing. Went back next week for another game, decided to look again and found it embedded, mostly obscured, in the dirt around one of the fields. It's good you hav help.

Sorry to hear this. I hope you find it. I think it’s time someone invented a micro GPS tracker that can be implemented in the case back or bracelet, so people can always track their watches in such scenarios

Keep looking. It may be in a place where you don’t remember putting it. It’s highly unusual for watches like this to just break off. And I’d say it’s impossible for them to slip off without noticing.
My wife once thought her Omega had come off at a rest stop. Turned up in her bag the next day…

I am sending you a PM. I was in the local metal detecting club for years, we used to find all kinds of stuff like this for people that had lost treasured (pardon the pun) items. I have probably the world’s top metal detector, I will be glad to ship it to you. If you get anywhere near it, even if covered by a foot of snow, you’ll find it.

So sad to hear this OP! Really do hope for a happy ending to this story

I was wearing my 116610LN and felt something scratching my wrist. When I looked at my watch, a screw from one of the links had unscrewed quite a bit. Luckily for me, it was near the clasp so it was pinching my wrist and I was able to realize. Had it been a lil higher up, don’t know if I would’ve noticed until too late. Maybe that’s what happened here or the screw at the clasp popped out. (Micro adjustment)

Thank you so much TheVTCGuy that is very kind of you but I can’t ask that of you. It is a really nice thing to offer though and it means a lot that you are willing to do such a thing. So just want you to know it is a very nice gesture.

Still no luck we are heading to next place right now. Still bright and sunny out and up to 21 degrees so we will keep searching till around 5 today. There is now 9 of us and still 2 metal detectors going.

Sorry about this OP.

Call ring finders.

https://theringfinders.com/Tim.Kerber/

If your avatar info is correct, this guy can help.

And don’t let Paul send you anything!

Starts with a metal detector (receiver pays shipping), then it’s a clock (broken), then it’s a bottle (empty), then it’s Anna (deflated). Ask Jocke about it.
