@overgrower: Yes, that is the original listing on eBay. Good detective work. I’ll never do a transaction outside of a reputable website again. eBay is not such a place. It’s just too gigantic for them to police it.

His other listings look legit so maybe he was at least attempting to be honest. I think I have reported that one as fake before.

OK. So as I suspected the seller is a decent guy. He was, like me, too ready to overlook the watches flaws because it runs so well and pretty much looks the part unless you know a lot.

After some polite discussion we arrived at a solution where he sent me back most of my money and I kept the watch. Why?
