1680 Submariner

Thinking of buying this 6.8million 1680 submariner. Anything seem off to y’all? My vintage knowledge is pretty limited. Price seems pretty good.

Either the date wheel or the cyclops is scratched.
Of course a date wheel would be more coin to correct.

I think it’s the cyclops. Heard it’s about 60-100 euros to replace. In this case, I wouldn’t look to much to that and just get a new glass.

1680 is definitely a very nice watch. I had one for quite a few years and really liked it. I found that the raised crystal was more prone to scratching than say my GMT, perhaps that’s what has happened this one? In any event, they are great so good luck!

I second that! Have had my top hat crystal buffed at least 3 times the last couple of years…

Looks good. Be careful with the buff on the cyclops - it tends to distort the mag if not done right. In any case, not a big issue.

When you say price is "pretty good" - what range we talking about?

Certainly more economical than paying 10,000 - 15,000k extra for an identical one except with red "Submariner" text.

I'm at peace with a scuffed-up acrylic crystal. It's only going to get scratched again if I polish it.

My 1680 Sub cyclops is practically sandblasted, and my 1803 Day-Date cyclops is a disaster. Interestingly, the non-cyclops acrylic crystals (e.g., Milgauss 1019) don't get scuffed up at all.

But still...A Red 1680 Sub is almost double the price of a White 1680 Sub now. Just for one red line of text...
