Submariner Identification Assistance

Hello TRF Friends!
Have come across a Submariner that has no crown guards and the dial says :

submariner
333 feet

Any info would be appreciated!
Peace,
Whitman

PS have a photo but when I try to upload from my iPhone, it says file too large.
Not sure how to make it manageable!

Most likely 5508 or 6536 if the dial is original. Try hosting the pic on imgur or a photo hosting site?

Or crop and reduce the size of the photo and upload directly.

Bad redial.

If 6536, 6536-1, or 5508 it is the wrong crown.

Those are the obvious issues jumping out.

Redial, what do the numbers say between the lugs? Best bet would be to part it out

This watch looks very familiar. That awful-looking crown on the dial and completely wrong text (and text information) are hard to forget.

I wouldn’t write it off just yet. It’s a poor picture and whilst not period correct, the insert looks like a genuine mark 3. Dial minute and hour hand are obviously wrong. Case, bezel, crown and movement could well be genuine.

Agreed. Better pic but not something for the bin at all.

Agree. Hope we get a picture from between the lugs to identify if it is a big crown or a small crown.

Could it be a 6538 with repainted dial and wrong hands?

Need better photos.

IIRC, back in the older says on VRM, some people referred to that as a common NYC area watchmaker's redial. Need better photos but likely a legit watch with a bad redial from the 70s.
