Without the Jumbo from 3 years ago, I do think it would have been a slightly more difficult argument for them to make

Hi !
Especially if they can see you still have it and didn't sell it.
I mean, do you think it's also playing in your favour? I think it is.

I am also in HK and got my first one (blue dial ROO Diver) less than a month ago.
I love it, and also waiting for a 34mm RO for my wife now.

Did you also get it from AP House ?
Great guys over there ! It's so different than Rolex boutiques in HK where it feels there is no communication possible

It is indeed a very different experience. This is impart due to the boutiques being owned by the company, where the goals and targets are more aligned between the company/management and staff.

Mine was at the ifc boutique

how long did you have to wait if you got it from the boutique? People with 15407s from boutiques should really give that info IMO. It will help to give prospective buyers real info.

IMO.. i don't owe anyone any answers

If you hold the same attitude here towards the sales associate, i'm not surprised why they have been withholding watches from you.

IF you read my first post, I think I was pretty clear on timelines

lol wow so sensitive.....suit yourself. And I've gotten every watch I've gone after just so we're clear. Nobody is withholding watches from me. The 15407 while on my list is not my immediate priority.

Thank you very much,

Only on the weekends, with heightened wrist awareness.

As much as people go on about wearing watches as tool watches, there is nothing wrong to avoid creating scratches on the watch. Every scratch is probably a grand or two off in perceived value

Is it though? I had my RG ROO for 4 and a half years. It being gold, got many scratches on the case and even the clasp. I sent it to AP to clean up, it came back looking like the day I bought it. I got top dollar for it in 2 weeks time.

There is either worn or unworn. If it's truly unworn brand new (still has delivery wrapping on it, tag attached etc...) you get more money. If it's worn then it's worn. I would recommend anyone selling their watch to have AP polish it. They do an amazing job.

Though I understand barely wearing a 15407 for fear of someone stealing it off your wrist......

Just pray to the lord

This is a game of luck, patience, and surprises

Esp for top tier pieces…experiences are completely random for owners if you notice the pattern. Rack up the spend…and pray haha

Hey Lusfort!

Congratulations! How long did you wait to get this watch when you put your request in?

Also, what do you mean have a “good profile” ?
I have no history with AP, and been maintaining my relationship with AD sales agent for about 8 months now.

Do you think it’s most likely to purchase a first offering from the sales agent, otherwise you won’t be offered again and what you initially requested will be no hope from then onwards?

Thanks!

Hi Guys, thought I’ll give something back to the community and inject some positivity and hope in the never ending watch quest that we are in at the moment.

My Journey with AP started almost 4 years ago in late 2017, back then I was casually strolling through one of the malls in HK and plucked enough courage to walked into the AP boutique where I put my name down for a 15202 Jumbo. Back then it wasn’t a crazy market as it is now where premiums for the jumbo was only 5-8k usd… fast forward 3 months later. I received the call from the boutique and picked up one as my first AP, I could only attribute to dumb luck and being at the right place at the right time as the few client ahead of me in the queue could not pick it up in time or passed.

I then took a detour in the collection as I expanded the collection with watches from other brands, there also wasn’t much in terms of offering that attracted me during the period.

Earlier this year I restarted my journey with the Brand as 1) Rolexes are impossible to obtain from the ADs and no ADs in HK seems to be remotely interested in developing relationships 2) the relative value of APs at MSRP versus Rolex and PP at premium makes it a good value proposition 3) I knew my prior purchase history would help in my standing at the store

The Rekindled Journey wasn’t easy at the beginning, even being offered a non allocation piece was a struggle. However, once rapport was made with the sales associate, it became obvious that they valued me as a customer and started to working with me as a partner in the mutual Journey.

Few watches down the road with AP this year, I finally got the text from my Sales Associate that he will have an early Christmas Gift for me..

I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking

Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation to sales associate and sales manager of the Boutique. Pretty sure this isn’t the end of the Journey

Few advice I’d give for others in the journey

1) Don’t give up and do check in frequently at the store even if it’s to say hi or have a casual chat with the staff
2) Having a good profile with the brand is paramount as allocation pieces have to be approved by HQ with a customer profile
3) Don’t be picky with what they initially offer as that’s your probably the first and only “in” you’ll get

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CONGRATS MAN!!!!
and I agree with your advice. and one more thing tell your SA list of watches you like, don't focus on one watch it will be hard for them to allocate specific watch

Im in HK as well I remember 4 years ago so many 15400 in store with discount LOL
lucky I'm able to get 3 watches this year through the boutique

I think it depends, also how good is your SA, one time I met Junior SA she said it's difficult to allocated hot models because they need to compete with others also she needs a lot of approval from the top position.

But if you really don't like the watch don't take it if you feel you like it then grab it for sure they will try to help you next to what you want

Hello Mazai, the journey took about a year to complete and a few watches in between. I would agree that you probably shouldn’t be too fussed about your 1st watch. Right now any watch is hard to come by as more people want to get involved in the game.

A good profile:

The company you work for
Your title at the company
Most importantly.. having good chat
