AP RO Diver Availability?

Hi TRF,

I have been contemplating about buying RO Diver pre-owned from grey, but at the same time wanted to somehow start a relationship with an AD.

My closest AD is the one in Los Angeles / OC. I did not have a good experience with the Beverly Hills Boutique - I called to make an appointment and was told that they accepted walk-ins, so no need for an appointment, when I got there they had sign for appointment only and the security stayed behind the door and did not even bother to talk to me, so I just left. I have been put off from even trying ever since as I thought my chance is slim to none.

However, recently a friend of time told me that he got a diver as his first watch after waiting for a bit (he is not local in the US and got it from an AD in Asia) which makes me re-think if I should just give it another shot and maybe worth a try? Thoughts on this?

I can't speak to availability but if I had to wager a bet, the diver is probably scarce (but not as bad as a RO).

I would recommend going to the South Coast Plaza boutique. They are top notch and have a great group of people working there. Go in and be honest about what you're looking for and that you want to start a relationship.

I think a new 15720 AP Diver should be obtainable if you start a relationship with a boutique and wait a couple of months. I received mine in early April of 2021 when they were released and had only purchased one watch before while having less than a year-long relationship.

Based on what I see here and with friends, I do not think it will be too difficult. Just start that relationship and keep building it.

Best of luck!

Don't go grey. Call or stop in to express your interest. It will happen for you. Good luck.

It’s worth the wait without going grey.

Just have a little patience.

I will always encourage starting a relationship with the boutique rather than grey market dealers but even after buying 2 ROs from AP I have not been able to get a diver from them. So do start that relationship but do expect that it will take time.

Another thing to consider... If you have other models you want (e.g., a RO or ROO) will buying a diver help you get those hotter models? From what I see here and elsewhere its hit or miss as to if buying a diver will help you get those other models.

I think the diver was in short supply last year, but has started opening up. I expressed interest about a month after the released announcement last year and got mine at the end of Jan. So around 8 or 9 months I guess? There may be some pent up demand, but it seems others are now getting them and as stated above, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. :D

Unfortunately it's gone the other way for the UK market for the new Divers. 2022 is pretty much pre-sold/allocated now.

Yeah, I shouldn't have implied it would become a walk up and buy. It seemed really stuck last year, seems a little less so now...will still be a wait for sure.
