Day Date Olive Discontinued? 100K on Chrono
This watch was released 6 years ago (on the 60th Anniversary) of the Day Date. What is the general wisdom on how long a watch like this will stay being produced by Rolex?
Chrono's value on this watch passed the $100k mark for the first time. Is this factoring in some buzz on it being discontinued? Where does this go if it gets discontinued? |

Nobody knows. It’s just a dial color.

Yikes
I wonder if they would still let people swap dials. |

no one here knows what rolex's plans are regarding discontinuations, or anything else for that matter. chrono 24 doesn't set prices, it's just a marketplace where anyone can post any watch for sale at any price they want. if you look at the actual prices paid (based on sites like watchcharts) you'll see selling prices, market averages, etc. and it's still well below the 100K mark. don't get me wrong, it's still ridiculously high, but at least a better reflection of what's going on.

If it does not get discontinued it will drop down 30-40k. Same with the green dial Daytona Platinum Daytona and Meteorite Pepsi, all trading north of 100k now. Insane yes but we will see real insanity 3/30

The DD40 olive may experience a slight correction, but I don’t think it’ll be that significant. The green dial Daytona had a correction last year after W&W, but it’s been trading well above those highs since.

This discussion happens each and every year. At this time the only one that knows is Rolex.

Collect mine on Thursday. Glad I have missed the uncertainty of it being discontinued this April. My view is I think it will stay in the catalogue for a couple more years. However, simply none about in the UK from what I can see and certainly not many incomings for quite some time. Sure we will soon find out.

I imagine anniversary models have a limited run and not a permanent catalog fixture.
