Setting the date on 2021 TT Sub

Hi everyone,

I have followed this forum for a few years but I wanted to join only when I got my first Rolex. That day came last week when I got the latest TT Blue Sub. It is so beautiful I never imagined that day would come. I’m very excited to have joined this community and I look forward to connecting with many of you and talking about our passion for watches.

That being said, I was checking my watch at 11:30-ish last night and saw that the date had already changed ahead of time. I did some research and saw this usually happens. Is that true? That’s not my concern nonetheless. I read that for most automatic movements there is a specific time window (in terms of where the hands are on the dial) where you can change the date. I think it was something like 6pmAny change of date outside of that window can potentially harm your movement. Is that the case?

I have heard its not always at midnight but I am sleeping at that time and never worried. Make sure you have am/pm right and if you have a 2021 Sub you don't have to worry what time you change the date. That problem faces other watches, like things based on a val 7750. You are good - enjoy the watch.

Agreee with above although never had the date change before 12pm usually a few mins after.

Date should change within 5 minutes of midnight.
None of my Rolex are even off by that much.

Pretty sure it should change within a few seconds of midnight. Or thereabouts. My 3235 changes like 8 or 9 seconds after, the one time I checked.

Are you sure you're not 12 hours out? AM/PM mixed up.

That's the most likely thing.

Congrats on your Bluesy and welcome to the forum! All my Rolex watches changing date 3-5min after midnight. 30min before, is something need to be regulated IMO.

Half a hour before midnight sounds much earlier than I would expect. I haven't checked my Sub41, but I did track the date change on my SD43. Here are the precise times of the magic date wheel spin, down to the second. Yep, my idea of fun.

No, it is not the case with Rolex movements. You can change the date or time whenever you get the urge.

Not for all. My DJ41 3235 changes around 12:08 a.m. since I purchased it. Not a big deal, it can vary from watch to watch, but 30 minutes before is way too early. JMHO.

All my watches change their dates around noontime.

Thank you everyone for the input as well as insight into this. It turns out I either got confused and assumed the wrong date (I had just gotten into town from a transatlantic flight), or something else that I made by accident. I can confirm the date changes always after midnight, usually within 5 minutes. For example, it changed around 12:04 AM last night!

Now I got to deal with the first few annoying scratches until the patina develops more and we're set!
