Why??
I'm actually thinking of getting a 233 before my coveted Daytona.

I have had a SS Daytona for 4 years. I wanted it badly - like everyone else. I really love it, but for sentimental reasons (my wife gave it to me as a present). In all honesty, I don't think it's so great looking and these days I seldom wear it - it seems small. I have a Pam 233 that is terrific. It's beautiful and I much prefer it to the Daytona - just my 2 cents here. Hope I haven't offended anyone...

i have to agree after wearing the Pam.s you might find it a tat small, the daytona was on my wish list as well, yet i keep putting it back, i tried one on just b-4 i got the 127 , i personally have to say it looked quite small especially for being a Chrono.
I think you will enjoy the 233 to be honest.. :-) |

I can't even look at a Daytona anymore, too small and the dials too cluttered, like everyone else i wanted one when i first got into watches, but i've been offered 3 of them in the last 2 years and don't feel they're worth buying due to what i wear these days, it would only get sold later on without much wear.

Ah, the 270, even Panerai showed that they can mess up even the simplest of things

I am not a Daytona fan, I gust don't get the hype. I would take the 223 over it any day and gets some sweet straps to mix it up.
I am officially done with buying Rolex watches and the ones I have are in some serious danger of getting flipped once I start buying some Pam's.

It's always good to keep one, whatever is your favourite, that way it stops the desire to 'try' Rolex again

But I want a white dial to make my collection more well rounded. I know, I know. Panerai makes some white dialed PAM's...but they just aren't my favorite.

Bryan, go for the 233!! at one time or another a lot of us have been in the Daytona bandwagon but get tired of waiting.
233 all the way!!

But don't you guys think it's good to have a varied collection?? In my case this would mean a white dial. This said, my short list includes a 233 and a Daytona, it's just a matter of which one comes first.

Daytonas are just "okay" for a smallish watch. I think this is generally true of most all Rolex (of which I am very bored - maybe except the new DD II President!!!). But the 233 is something really special.

But your collection will still be varied either way. With the Daytona you'll have 2 case designs and 2 colors. With the 233 you'll have 3 case designs and 1 color. You'll get them both eventually. Right now the 233 prices seem better to me. The Daytona is so nice however. You really can't go wrong either way.

the 233 looks 10x better than the Daytona and probably wears better (i have not tried a 233 on yet). Me being a Rolex fan i picked the deep sea over the daytona and never looked back. So i can understand where you are coming from wanting a particular piece for so long but all of a sudden got detoured by a more stunning piece.
The daytona dial is hard to see in my opinion and the loom is very small and at times weak. The 233 has a very clear dial, easy to read and the loom is outstanding. |

I bought the White SS Daytona first. I do love that watch. I get the best of both worlds - I guess... Because my wife stole it and wears it all the time. So, I get to wear my 233 and still look at the Daytona.
Both are great. Both should be on your list... Get one and continue to admire the other....! Good Luck...

If the Daytona was 44-45mm,it would have been a contest. As things stand, its not.233 is the choice !!
