When did Rolex Stop Punching Papers?

Looking at a D serial watch (c. 2006) and the papers are not punched. I think there was a period before the physical credit-card style warranty where papers were not punched.

Everything else checked out, so wanted to ask. I could not get a clear answer via search.

Hmm…I had five Rolex purchased between 2000-2004 and to be real honest I don’t remember what sort of warranty documentation came with them. I do remember them having a dealer stamp and then customer name and date handwritten in.
I’m curious now too.

You can buy those old punched papers on eBay. Not sure who buys them since the chances of find an exact match are slim to none. They're not cheap either, at least a few hundred dollars.

They seem to have stopped punching with the 6 serial watches. All the 5 digit serials had punched papers.

In the USA, the D serial numbered papers were typed. Outside the USA, they were punched. Both of these papers ended with the introduction of the credit card size warranty card a few years later.

Thank you, Springer! That directly answers this question. Appreciate the drops of wisdom, as always.

My F serial Sea-Dweller 16600 has printed papers. It was purchased at Mitsukoshi dept store so I figured that was the reason as my Z serial GMT-Master II has punched papers.
