Space dweller

Saw all the pics going around of the Oscars commercial and while everyone seems dead set on a new air king I on the other hand had the thought of the space dweller making a come back. It had such a very short run and their mantra for this year seems to be “skyward” so why not bring something from the very old line up and give it a new look? I know the history of the space dweller and it was just an explorer 1016 with a different name. But what if they slapped a crown guard on and called it a day?

The Rolex Space-dweller, some say it was introduced to the Japan market only in 1963 after the Mercury astronauts paid a visit. And now a really rare watch and not like what some quote of todays modern day Rolex watches.

That was my last thought lol. I’ve never been a big fan of the speedy. Or any chronograph for that matter. It’s a complication I don’t have a use for so never been on my radar to collect. I was trying to think about what references in the past have had smooth bezels and crown guards. Can’t think of any so whatever it is, it’s a new design

Would be interesting indeed... or maybe they're just waiting for an extra special announcement of the Swatch/Rolex collab for this space dweller.. maybe have Will Smith slap it up for some extra spice

I just looked up the space dweller, I think that as a new model would satisfy all those (including me) that were hoping to see a 41mm explorer last year.

Space dweller

That last watch in the teaser prob space dweller. Rolex wants in on all the space exposure. After all they need a Mars watch.

Love it. Tudor Ranger & 1016 vibes. Really makes me wish they brought that typeface back.

Agree. Space exploration has become a new hot space so makes sense that Rolex wants to be in this game.

Is Rolex X SpaceX coming!?

Is the Space-Dweller just a 1016 with a different dial—and to be more precise, just a different model name on the otherwise exact same dial? If so, it doesn't seem to be all that mind blowing.

This could explain shrinking the Explorer last year?? Bring out the space dweller in 41 or 42?? We'll know very soon!
