question about new releases

with new releases what does that mean for either pieces that are discontinued or carry over pieces in terms of pricing historically? For example, if a new stainless daytona is released does that make the prior model more available because everyone will want the new version?

I brought a BNIB explorer 216570 of Friday from an AD, even though this model was discontinued last year he still sold at MSRP

It depends. The collectability of the discontinued watch is the key driver.
