Did The 118206 Platinum Day Date Ever Come With A Dark Blue Dial?

Is this a legit original dial for a platinum day date or did they never come in dark blue like this in 36mm.

I can’t find one photo of it online.. are you positive they made this dial original to the platinum not white gold version? Is it rare? A 1 yr only dial?

I believe it was available on both much like the black dial. The on,y exclusive dial to the platinum I believe is the ice blue…

They polished these lugs factory. Lugs look normal and thick.

I think those thick markers were for later models.

Anyway these factory dials are all interchangeable. Some people just like the dials to be period correct.

I've had one if these with the ice blue dial. What about this looks polished? I think the lugs are pretty normal.

The ice blue dials are only for platinum models. With the older platinum Day-Dates--5 digit serials--the factory original platinum dial markers had noticeably bigger diamonds than the white gold dials. Pre-2000 the default platinum DD dial was a monochromatic silver dial with large diamond markers. They later switched to the ice blue dial for platinum post-2000 with the 118206.

However I believe you're correct in that all the "furniture" is made out of white gold.

This was the factory dial for platinum models pre-2000:

This style of blue dial with the thick indexes was made for a white gold DD from the mid to late 2000s:

i think the lugs definitely look softened, and the bracelet just looks beat. reminds me of how most 5 digits look

Don’t mind the greasy fingerprints on the watch but I’m just not seeing an excessive amount of polishing or softness. It’s definitely been polished but I did not balk at the amount of polish. Didn’t capture a photo of the clasp but the crown on it was very well defined.

These are the only pictures I have but am likely going back to purchase it.

I agree the lugs on OPs watch are somewhat softened and polished relative to this other example. Granted I got this ice blue model used and polished. Should the lugs be sharper than this picture I am posting? Is OPs potential watch that bad? I am not an expert.

The 6 digit DDs all look a bit softer IMO because of the factory polished case.

The brushing made the older models look more angular.

I can see the edges of the lugs are more rounded compared to the picture of my ice blue, but what else makes that suggestion? If you compare the factory gold models of this reference to the platinum, the platinum is much more rounded. It was only this year we got a sharp, fluted bezel, after all.

Would have to be than that: the one pictures in the OP appears to be missing the rehaut engraving.

Something is really off with it. It’s a 6 digit but the way the bracelet sits in the case is like a 5 digit reference or a rep
