Yg with champagne dial (or even silver or white) is too monotone for my tastes. I prefer more contrast for aesthetics and legibility as well. Therefore I love black, new green, or other dark dials on yg dd.

It's too much gold. You'll get a lot of positive affirmation in this forum but it's a lot. Most regular people would even say it's tacky. But hey, you do you.

Look at the new Vacheron 222. Gold might stage a comeback

Champagne DD40–too much gold?

I go back and forth with that. Sometimes I think it’s the best yellow gold Day Date combo there is. Other times I think it’s too much gold and over the top.

Exactly where I’m at. Have to say, the white face yellow I’m getting into. Has a weird but fun like 80s Gecko vibe to it.

Champagne dial is timeless. Can be dressed up or down

I just got the champagne DD40 with baguettes, and I love it. I'm far from retirement age and never thought I'd get a YG DD, let alone the champagne dial, but here we are. It's definitely more loud than my olive RG and my WG meteorite, but YG has a look all its own that is appealing.

I was also surprised at how much better the contrast is than I was expecting. It doesn't feel as monochrome in person as I thought it would.

I think it looks smooth and classy. Mines only a 36 but I enjoy the light colored champagne

all gold colors have their preferable uses - a yellow gold watch und a shirt cuff looks really classy

To me it just screams 'boomer' but the YG DD40 is as good as it gets

That looks amazing, so the answer to OP's question is no, there's never enough gold, muhahaha!

It is too much gold for me with dial and bracelet just merging into one.

I have the DD40 with the white dial on order

Gold is hard to capture in snapshot photos. My first DD was in WG, but I'm currently in love with my new YG version. Even bought a YG wedding band to match. My first YG watch in my 41 years. Maybe I'm old now, but it's fitting!

I love mine and I wasn’t really into yellow gold before I got it. Tried it on and the deal was done.

DD36 18238 with Champagne dial here, love the look and I don't think its too flash.

Only problem I have is its difficult to see the time (with my old eyes), I have to look twice in a lot of different lighting conditions which is a pain. For that reason I would consider swapping the dial to a Silver one, or even changing to a 118238 with diamond bag dial (as above) for better legibility. You wouldnt get any legibility issues with a dark dial (Black, Blue, Green, Chocolate)

Anyways, same watch different lighting:

Crazy difference yet same dial

I have a the 228238 YG with Champagne Roman’s. This has always been my grail. I am fortunate to own it but it gets little wrist time as I feel it is too flashy for me. I have considered selling it, but when I do wear it, I do love it. Champagne was my second choice, but was what was available when I bought it.

I have a daydate 36mm Champagne diamond dial and I am 35 years of age.

I think because of the monotone look, its easier to dress up or down in terms of styling.

But buy whatever that floats your boat, you cant go wrong.
