Fair price for a mid 90s 14060 tritium?
I’m shopping for a 14060 tritium and found a one owner piece in good condition with box and paper. The owner is asking an equivalent to $11k (USD). The price seems high but I haven’t really followed the pricing on this particular model. Do you think this is a fair price for this watch? This will be a nostalgic purchase since my first Rolex was a 94 14060 with a similar dial. The price back then was like $2K if I’m not mistaken. I ended up trading the watch for a 99 SD that I’m still wearing.

For a nice condition piece with Box and papers, that price is pretty much the going rate. There are a lot of overpolished 14060s out there so the great condition pieces with Box/Papers are definitely $10k+.

I have been following the market on 14060's for a while now. Here is my opinion.
For a "good" condition with box and papers that is a good price from an established seller. If the watch were "excellent", it would be a great price. Of course, so much depends on condition of the watch and how established the seller is. Because premium sellers command premium prices.

No box. No papers. And hard to tell from the pics, but not sure that has never been polished.

That's about the going rate for two-liners with B&P. About a $1000-2000 more for 4-liners.

Agree. Bump up a little for EC from 1st tier seller.

True dat. But probably less wiggle room with B&P as those seem to getting fewer and fewer. Plenty of naked ones. On C24 at the moment there are about a hundred in the US for sale (Both 14060 and 14060M) starting around 10k. Only a quarter of those are B+P. Some of the less expensive ones look to have had a hard life or a few rounds with the polisher...

Thank you for all your replies. I went to checkout the watch in person. The condition was really good for the age of the watch. The case and bracelet were never polished and only had a few scratches. The bracelet was very solid compare to my 16660. However, the service history unknown. I might try to negotiate for some discounts if possible.

The seller may not see it this way, but I personally see any older Rolex model with documentation of a recent service as having a higher value as an identical model without. (For that matter, I personally consider a Rolex without box/papers but with a recent RSC service/active RSC warranty as having a higher value as the same watch in identical condition with box/papers but without such service, but I realize that is not a very popular opinion.) |
