Pre-Owned Rolex Purchase Advice
Hello Rolex forum. I want to buy my son a pre owned Rolex for graduation. Not the super expensive vintage ones, but a lower end watch. I have seen these on websites like Fashionphile - who "guarantees" authenticity ( I have purchased other luxury goods from them), but I am nervous about where to buy one. Frankly, if I got a good fake that has a seconds hand that moves smoothly, I would never be able to tell it was not real. Can anyone recommend a place to purchase one that is reliable? Thanks!

On EBay now they do authentication on many watches as part of the buying process. For peace of mind I would buy from an established business via EBay who will post to the Authenticator before being delivered on to you.

DavidSW, Takuya, OCRolexGuy are all good people/places. Might want to check local authorized dealers too.

I bought my "08 Explorer II from an AD.
Many ADs are selling used at around Grey prices with a certified service. Sounds like a good deal and guaranteed authenticity. Limited selection as compared to the trusted sellers found here though |

Hi Deedle welcome to the forum! That’s awesome you’re doing that for your son; it’ll mean more than you know especially if he’s big into timepieces. Since you just put USA as location it’s hard to recommend places based on where you are, but for online I would stick with DavidSW or the other ones already mentioned; have never heard a bad thing about DavidSW from anyone on here.
I would also get on Rolex.com and search for an authorized dealer or dealers in your area. From there, either go in or reach out by phone and see if they also sell used Rolex or just new, because many AD’s sell both. Also, which reference (model) of Rolex are you looking to get him? Depending on desired piece and time frame you may just be able to score a brand new one with a bit of waiting and then you’re guaranteed it’s authentic and in the current market you’ll probably pay less at MSRP than what the same watch used will cost. Good luck! |

What’s your budget? I think that matter quite a bit… some of the sellers mentioned here like Takuya, David SW and rest pretty much sell only modern watches that are pretty much all over retail.
With a budget in mind I think many of us can chime in where to go and even suggest references. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Does anyone have any feedback on purchasing a Rolex on fashionphile? They say they authenticate but would love feedback

Authentication (if true) only gets so so far. Condition is just as important.
I’d go to one of the trusted sellers here on TRF … I can vouch for Tony at JustRolexes, Patrick at OCWatchGuy and DavidSW. As for model, to keep it around $10k, I’d go for either a 39mm Explorer (lumed), submariner, or Explorer II. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I purchased a 2019 Explorer 39mm 214270 from DavidSW early 2021 with box and papers for about $10k. It runs spot on, great condition. Outstanding seller!

Two first posts on this thread mentioning Fashionphile. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if this is really a ploy to drive clicks to their site.

First of all, eBay also guarantees authenticity. That doesn’t mean I would necessarily trust them. You’ll pay the price if you want to be safe. Somebody like crown and caliber or the watch box or bobs watches or David SW are safe. But you’re gonna pay more
