Question on the new Sub - size
I wrote in this post that I was considering a new Submariner.
Just for s&g I went to my AD this past weekend, hadn't been there in a year. They now have demonstrators - a Sub, YM, Daytona, maybe an OP, I can't remember. No SD, which I was curious to see (I've been recently intrigued by it). The new Sub looks great, wears great on me as far as I could tell. The last one I had (114060) just seemed to be too big. The new one is basically the same size, same height, marginally bigger in tenths of a mm, and I suppose visually smaller with the slimmer lugs, but even on my svelte waif-like wrists, it does not hang over or look ridiculous. I do not routinely carry my phone with me when shopping, so sorry, no pics. But still I wonder. I'm interested in feedback from those who have moved from 11 to 12 and who have smaller than average wrists. As a potential gift from the wife, I have already been warned that I cannot sell it.

I would go GMT in your position, although same size on paper it wears a lot sleeker and more streamlined

I had a 16610 for a bit before purchasing a 126610 in Oct 2020. Both are now sold—on my 6.75” wrists I find 36mm looks ideal—up to 38mm is ok. Anything beyond that just looks goofy—like “hey look at me, I’m wearing a watch!”
If I were to purchase one of them again, no question it’d be the 5-digit. Much better proportioned. The 12 is close, though, and certainly a better fit than the 11. FWIW. |

Yeah I’ve got a 6.75ish wrist and I made the jump from 11 to 12. I had the 114060 as well and as soon as I got a chance to try on the 12 series it was a done deal. You don’t feel it right away but there is a huge difference in how it wears daily. It feels like wearing a 5 digit but with all the modern goodness

I was going to get the smaller 14060 series. In fact I was on my ADs list for one of the older ones just in case they took one in on trade, but after about 6 months waiting I get the call telling me he’s got the new 124060 in if I wanted to try it on.
I have a small wrist size (6-1/2) and the 11 series just didn’t look right on me when I tried them on before so I wasn’t very optimistic. However when I put the 124060 on it was a done deal! AD removed 2 links & the glide lock adjusted next to the smallest setting so I still have 2mm of adjustment in the winter months when my wrist shrinks some. The watch sits great on my wrist without rolling & the clasp is perfectly centered under my wrist. So needless to say Im so thrilled with this watch! Here’s a picture of me Jeeping in my CJ with my new tool watch! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have probably slightly larger than average wrists at 7.75", but I found the 12 series Subs definitely wear smaller (to me) than the 11 series, despite being nominally a fraction of a mm larger. It's definitely the slimmer lugs that does it IMO.
For me the 11 series is perfect, so I'm personally more than happy sticking with my 116610LN.

I have 6 1/2 inch wrists on a good day, and have a 16610 and it wears like it was supposed to be on my wrist. The wider lugs add to the wrist presence but the overall case size are almost identical and the lug to lug length on both is compact. If you were going to go with an older sub, the 5 digit would be ideal but you can likely pull off any sub, and I would focus more on what you like most.

It was too big for me, with a 6.75 inch wrist.
Looks pretty but flops around and by the end of the day, you are aware of it. GMT or 5 digits much better. |

I had a 16610 for awhile before picking up a 126613LB at an AD:
Here are some comparison shots on a 7.25" wrist: And the 126613LB: They wear remarkably the same. Even the thin lugs look the same. |

Am in the camp that had the chance to go from 11 to 12 series sub and never looked back.
6.75-ish wrist on a hot day. Visually I dont really notice much in terms of how the new case shows on the wrist, due to the slimmer lugs like you said. One thing I'll note though is personally I definitely feel the presence of the wider bracelet and the larger clasp. Nothing bad about it, and I actually kind of dig it for a sporty dive watch, but could see how this potentially bugs someone with smaller wrist size or people who are used to the older models that have a sleeker profile I'd suggest you just keep going back to try on the display model as many times as your AD lets you, just see how comfortable you are with that new thing. |

It's the same as the old sub with a big ass clasp. I'm 7.25" wrist and neither one sits flat for me. DJ41, Daytona and DD40 do.

I have a 6.75” wrist and I swapped my 11 series for the 12, just feels better. My AD allowed me to do an even swap so it was a no brainer for me.
For those suggesting other watches wearing better on smaller wrists, this is true if one and only-for me I want a Sub in my collection. I’ve had a 5 digit as well, but I prefer ceramic to aluminum… |

I have both the 116613LB and the 126613LB … and like better the proportions of the 12 Series … but honestly, on the wrist, wearing, feeling, looking down at, I don’t notice much, or any difference.
Laying side by side, yes … on the wrist, no to not really. |

I had 114060 and it didn't fit me at all. 124060 fits much better and it is thinner than the 11 series

To my eye, they wear about the same. As for “feel” the 12xx sits flatter for some reason

Thanks to everyone who replied! It makes me feel better.
The suggestions for the GMT are a good idea, but aside from the fact that I have a significantly better chance of obtaining the Sub over the GMT, I don't like the cyclops, or the bezel. But yes, they do fit me better (BTDT).

I have a 6.5” wrist and found the 124060 fit me much better than the 114060.
The 114060 is wider by ~1mm at the end of the lugs, and I think that makes a difference with overhang. The 124060 seems to wear lower on my wrist, while the 114060 sat up more. The 124060 wears more similar to my 126710 than the 114060 did — and while the 126710 is lighter, I don’t think there is that much difference in terms of wearability based on the watch case (obviously Jubilee vs Oyster is different). The 124060 is a home run, and it’s underrated compared to those with colored Cerachrom. |

I didn't like the feel of the 114060 on my 6.5in wrist and like the 126613LB much better. At this point I'm in the honeymoon phase with mine.

I had the same dilemma and to me I just prefer the 116610 size to the 126610 and it’s because I prefer the bracelet dimensions of the 116610. When the released the 126600 with the increased size and cyclops I can’t fathom why they increased the sub.

I have a smaller wrist, have a 114060 (which is at the outer limit of what I think looks/feels good on my wrist), have tried on the new 12-series, and I think both fit a small wrist pretty well. I don't personally find a massive difference between the two. Beyond looking at it in macro shots or extremely up-close, I feel they look very similar. Comparatively speaking, the 114060 and 124060 become extremely similar when in a 3-way comparison to a 5-digit Sub, which I also tried on before getting my Sub (the 5 digit fit my wrist better, but Glidelock was a major attraction for me, and I also wanted a ceramic bezel.)

The caseback is shallower on the 124060, which makes the biggest difference in wearability considering all of the tweaks. I strongly disagree with the wider bracelet and clasp, but the 14060M was perfection to begin with…

It will look too big on your wrist shots if you have smaller than 7.25” wrists.
If you’re shorter than about 6’1 and not of stocky build, it will look too big and shiny on you to be a “tool watch”. If you decide to keep it clean in the box and baby it, it will look too shiny and big. But that’s not why people wear the watch. It’s to feel good about themselves. “Hey self, check out this rolex. You did a good enough job to own one” So if you feel good about yourself then who cares what other people think? They’re $10k+ right now so why shouldn’t they be bigger and shinier? |

In my opinion the 11 vs 12 series debate is blown way out of proportion. The differences are minuscule, with the 11 series wearing visually smaller because of the smaller dial and slimmer bracelet. The 12 series has slightly slimmer lugs but everything else about it is larger including the huge bracelet and clasp. Also camera lens makes a huge difference in the perceived size with most mobile phone shots making the watches look much larger than they actually are.
Here’s my 114060 that I’ll never sell on my 6.5 inch wrist. |

I previously owned the 116613LB and 116618LB but prefer the look and feel of the 126613LB. The updated proportions are what really drew me towards the latest model. I have a 6.75” wrist and I find the new Sub very comfortable.
