M Series Submariner Dial
Good Morning All,
Does the M Series Submariner have the ceramic bezel? Are the numbers indented on the ceramic bezels? Many Thanks! |

Good morning..
No, "M" series SS Subs do not have ceramic bezels.. (although it's possible that some will be "M" serials when they are released) Yes, the numbers are indented on the ceramic bezels...... and they are coated with precious metal, bonded to the ceramic, either platinum or gold, just like the GMT ...

Well actually, the WG and YG subs do have the ceramic bezels. They were both made with "M" serial numbers. The 18k/SS sub with ceramic bezel should have a "V" serial.

There are no 'M' SS Subs with the ceramic bezel, it's just the aluminium inserts!! But the Gold and TT models have the ceramic bezels. The TT Sub ceramic won't be a 'M' series because it started production on 'V' series!!

The YG and WG subs were released at Basel '08 and will start with a M serial number. The TT sub were released in '09 and will start with a V serial number. The SS has not officially been released but if Rolex follows the pattern of the GMT-C it will be released in '10. Probably will not see them in dealers until fall or winter of '10.

wonder if the "v" serial number will "last" until release of new ss sub. and is the current ss sub in "v' series now?

Ceramic Dial Inserts
Thank each of you for the information. I was looking to avoid the ceramic dial insert, which may soon be a reality on many Rolex watches. I just do not see ceramic dial inserts as being as durable as the metal ones. Metal may scratch but ceramic materials may crack and crumble with age. Also, colors, such as blue, may vary by degrees due to the heating process.
