RSC Melbourne
greetings from land down under!
i moved in here last january for work. i have two watches; a 2017 polar explorer and a DJ. i know my datejust 116233 is long overdue for maintenance check. recently, the power reserve started to weaken progressively. i’m thinking of putting it in a box until i bring it to RSC Manila come december of this year. but do you think i should it to RSC here in Melbourne? i’ve seen the boutique along Collins street. how’s the pricing for basic calibration work? any feedback please about the service? thanks in advance! I had a Tudor in with RSC Melbourne in around September last year and heard they closed for a long time during the delta outbreak, and had a huge backlog / wait time. Not sure if that has since improved. My watch was a brand new Pelagos which arrived with lume missing on the bezel, in the end the boutique gave me a new watch because RSC was taking so long.

There's not just Melbourne, as Sydney has a service centre as well.
I've heard there are extended service turn around times of late here in OZ. There's also a great independent or two around with Max Schweitzer in Sydney coming to mind. What kind of service are you after? It sounds like you have the full Rolex spa treatment in mind. In that case you simply need to work out who will be best placed to deliver. To that end, I can say that Melbourne has been good to me and others I have spoken with. The dealer in Collins Street is just down the road from the RSC so I imagine they will be well placed to act on your behalf Please let us know how you go from here? |

My son just got feedback on his 16600 SD, Rolex had it for about 4 weeks, came back with a quote to service, replace bezel insert and glass, he has given them the go ahead and the quoted leadtime is 14 weeks. This is with Melbourne RSC. They appear to be pretty busy.

I recently put my DSSD in to the Sydney RSC as it was running quite fast. It was outside of the 2 year warranty from it's previous service.
They did another service FOC and had it back to me in about a month (in Jan 6, back Feb 8)

Sent my beaten up Rolex to them via WofS last year. Due to covid it took 6 months to get back.
Funny thing is, I didn't mind. they took a very badly damaged and not working GMT Master ii and returned it so perfect even the dealers said it would be difficult to tell from new. New crystal, bezel, winder, sympathetic polish and complete service. They provided a full quote and options for repair, including price and optional work. Yes, they are a class outfit and I trust them implicitly |

hi there!
update about my date just sent to RSC. According to their assessment, it needs complete overhaul which costs 900aud. their service requirement includes refinish bracelet and refinish case which are both free of charge. it that same as buffing? should i concede to that or retain it’s original condition with some light scratches? i’m asked to wait for 10-12 weeks if waiting time. thank you! Sydney RSC is closing down and all work will now be done in Melb RSC. I can confirm the RSC in Melb does fabulous work.
They did a full service and polish on my beaten up 116619LB which came back like the day it came out of the factory. Like the other post above, it took 6 months due to delta outbreak and parts delays but I was in no a hurry. Their work is top shelf. WoS does a lot of business with Rolex so they can send it in for you or you can take it in yourself by appointment. WoS is Australias largest Rolex dealer. Average cost is circa 900 for a basic service. I needed replacement bezel, crystal, winder crown and a refinish which came to around 2000$ from memory. |

Everything you and the reply above said is true. I had about a 12 week wait to get an overhaul, bracelet replacement and glass replaced on a 40 year old watch.
Service was impeccable and exactly to spec. I’ve heard horror stories of RSC around the world just doing whatever they wanted and it was a take it or don’t do it type thing, but can confirm RSC was very specific and followed the instructions from the AD to a tee (even back and forths to clarify what I wanted). Just make sure you and your AD are as detailed as possible (ie I specified I want the glass replaced but cosmetic damage to the bezel and dial were untouched) Only things that were none negotiable was anything that affected the function of the watch and the warranty they give you after (I believe 2 years from service, but could be wrong) |

This is really good to know. I was pretty sad about Sydney closing but I don’t mind having a shirt trip to Melbourne and dropping off watches to rsc in the process.
Plenty of good restaurants to duck into while down there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve had mixed results with Melbourne RSC.
They took a date just of mine about 3 years ago. It needed work, they quoted 3k which was about its value. For sentimental reasons I did the service but the watch failed again in a short period of time. To their credit they took it back and fixed it again. I put the watch away and didn’t wear it. About a year ago I took the watch out of the safe intending to wear it. It had failed again. Honestly, I’m not impressed by them at all. My most recent service was also disappointing. The initial assessment and report stated that my watch was damaged due to misuse and the work would not be covered by warranty. It was total bs. I have a lot of watches and they all get wrist time in rotation. It was still practically new and within warranty and I know how well I took care of it. I would know if if I had misused it. Yet I was charged $2000 for a service and repair. It wasn’t fair and I expressed my disappointment. I went in specifically to talk about it, but after I had paid and got the watch back. I outlined my case in a calm manner. It is not the money, it is the principle and I wanted them to know that as a fan of the brand I was disappointed. Guess what? They did not even give me the courtesy of a reply after they promised they would. This was 6 months ago. I’m sure they normally do better than this. Just not with me it seems lol |
