Polishing the 116622 yachtmaster's platinum bezel...

So, I have an opportunity to buy this reference from a local private seller at a pretty favorable price. The watch looks to be in pretty good condition, but I noticed some scratches on that beautiful platinum bezel, so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with getting that bezel polished without the look of the bezel being completely screwed up/ruined. Anyone think Rolliworks might be able to pull it off? Or if not them, RSC?

Following! I don't own one, but I've always wondered about this. Would they polish all scratches and redo the "sandblasted" background texture? Or, just polish the surface of the numbers if that's all that is needed?

I’ve taken mine to the RSC for service each and every time over 20 years. They’ve done a good job with the bezel insert. My AD told me the RSCs have a special machine to work on the platinum bezel inserts.

At my YM’s last service, the bezel wasn’t scratched very much, so I told the RSC to leave it alone.

Which RSC do you go to?

Interested as well as I just picked up a YM slate. I have seen a picture of a bezel, albeit two tone (so rose gold) where it looked odd. There was a bit where it looks like they didn’t approximate the edge of the bezel enough next to the numbers when polishing (?) and there is a demarcation there. I have wondered since if RSC sandblasts it at service for a proper polish.

This is showing how it's done with a special machine.
RSC will do it as part of the overhaul, no extra charge.

Refinishing a YM bezel is something that has to be done by someone who knows what they're doing. Done right, it will look as good as factory. Done wrong, it will look terrible. Personally, I would leave this to RSC as you know for certain they have the right tools and process down.

I had mine done at the RSC while in for service after a very very long time 15-20 years of age.

Looks perfect. Factory fresh.

I love the yachmasters but never owned one because how the bezels age over time. Just my opinion. However, if it can be finished to factory specs that is good to know!

Welp, it's done, I am now the proud owner of a 116622 Yachtmaster. It's from 2013, so I think it's probably wise to go ahead and get RSC to do a full service, and polish the bezel. Soooo, I've never actually done a service with RSC before, how do I go about it? Should I call them? What's their standard procedure for shipping? Is there a sticky somewhere on here that details this very procedure?
