116500 Dial Misprint Oyster_Perpetual
HI TRF,
I bought an 116500 back in February from our favorite TS. While taking some close up shots with my iPhone, I noticed that there is a line connecting the words Oyster and Perpetual. It reads: Oyster_Perpetual I thought perhaps this was a camera issue, so I bought a loupe and I definitely see it at 10x. Has anyone seen this before? Should I send to RSC?

If it doesn't bother you, I'd just enjoy the watch :)

If it bothers you then I'm sure that Rolex will replace the dial under warranty.
As mentioned, it wouldn't bother me either.

Don't tell the grey market dealers, they will call this the "Underline Dial" and try to sell it for a huge premium.

Mine does not have the line. I don’t walk around with a loupe so it wouldn’t bother me.

I see it as an error so I’d send it in to RSC.

Perhaps it’s a scratch on the dial. Send it to RSC for correction and peace of mind.
What does the trusted seller have to say?

I would have Rolex warranty repair/replace the dial since it is virtually a brand new watch…

How is that a misprint? A misprint would be an incorrect spelling...getting extra ink/paint is a quality control issue, not a misprint.
Maybe we can now call imperfections on a case "custom case design" to drive up the value? |

It appears to me that the pad which transfers the lettering to the dial surface was nearing its end of life. Or the pad had this thin line in its fabrication step.
As Peter said, many possible places such a variation might have occurred. Odds are that there are many other dials that were printed by the same pad, on the same day, with the same thin line twixt the words. If there is still a warranty left on the second-hand Watch, perhaps you could get it replaced. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I personally wouldn't do anything as this little line is very, very tiny and requires a loupe to observe. But like others said, to each his own, if it bothers you then you should take it to RSC for peace of mind.

I am not certain that Rolex would agree to replace the dial under warranty, but I would personally send it in and ask that it be replaced.
