YouTube has decided……..

…that Rolex is on its last legs….between the ones that are running on “Rolex is doomed” and the others with “I told you so”….sitting on my collection that I got from AD at MSRP (except my BLRO) I’m not fretting.
What can we expect from the YouTube crowd in the coming months?

YouTube is in business for keeping their channel alive with what ever click bait gets them a reaction.

I have YT, Insta, and TikTok channels where I display watches, pocket knives, etc. So I see related content on my feeds. Maybe my English is rusty, but I don't really understand the OP. Could you post an example of what you mean?

Maybe it is like the stock market, where 50% of Social media pundits say the market is poised to shoot up and 50% say the opposite. I'm guessing there are similar opinions on luxury cars, watches, crypto, etc.

The future is unknown. Even to watch pundits.

Simply go on YouTube and search “Rolex”. Compare it to who said what a couple of months ago.
My point, if you didn’t get it (my fault), is that I’m comfortable with things going back to before all the YouTube hype.

Well The immediate investment potential had obviously declined for the secondary market. Who knows they’ll probably hit a point where they’ll start climbing back up again in my opinion - i.e when these overstocked dealers stocks deplete as they’re still very unattainable at authorised dealers.

But who cares ! :)

Sorry to TRF. I just realized that putting up a silly post like this would help the same Youtube crowd get views, which is what they want. God I miss the analog 70's and 80's.

It's basically today's news channel. It's whatever gets the views and the attention.

And dont forget the ever powerful… “?”….This symbol is almost always in the title too. Nobody knows whats going to happen next, plus if they get it wrong they can always go back and say they were only posing the question.

I watch a lot of YouTube content (couple of hours a day maybe) on the big TV, and even pay $9 per month for the 'Premium' option so I don't have to watch advertising. I don't subscribe to any watch channels, though, and will look at maybe one or two watch-related clips a month, usually a review of a model that might interest me.

I mainly use it for first-person Go-pro bike rides for my exercise bike, old movies (some good HD channels available now), UHD 4K first-person go-pro walks around Italy while we put our feet up with some Italian food and wine (got us through lockdown, and we still enjoy it), and a couple of main international news channels. But yeah, very little wristwatch content worth looking at, IMO.

Hopefully higher quality informative videos. Plus with availability, more 'A month on the wrist with ____" and "Why I bought the ____" videos

Premium is totally worth it. The YouTube music app that allows music to play in the background on your phone is great too unlike amazon prime app.

Yep! Back then we had 3 channels. And if the president was on…. We were all shafted with nothing else to watch, as kids!

But we would not have this forum, either…

Anyone buying at msrp is fine. It’s the people buying at inflated grey dealer prices who are screwed. Either way it’s just a watch. Wear the heck out of it and enjoy it no matter how you purchased it.

Yea but “screwed” only is if your money is so tight the cost of admission is above your play money budget. Watch money is all relative to what context you buy them in regard to your income level. That’s really the key to any luxury item.

Prices on secondary market are coming down weekly. It is what it is. We aren’t near the bottom especially with another .75 rate hike coming in September. Again, it’s just a watch.

i watch YouTube watch channels every night. There is good stuff there. There have been some videos saying rolex is doomed. but its far from the norm. Currently they're saying the market it down and its a good time to buy some pieces. Not the doom and gloom that you say. This post was kind of click bait.

When I was a kid, we had 7 channels, and this was a lot compared to a lot of regions in the USA.

Anyone remember the TV show Hee Haw?

I used to think to myself, “Wow, I can’t believe Hee Haw is the best thing on TV right now.”

But there I was. Watching Hee Haw because literally nothing else on TV was better than it. Pathetic!

They basically said that about secondary market. They just put Rolex in the title for clickbait. Nobody really thought that “Rolex” is doomed.

Lol. I mean if they mean that watches selling for 3x MSRP is dead, well maybe. But if they mean that people will stop being interested it’s bananas. The problem is there is so much competition in the crowed cyber world that only the loudest and outlandish things get seen. Same with news media these days as well. Problem is, people don’t seem to realize this.

To wonder what I might expect from YouTube implies that I might have expectations.

I do not.
