Trade offer: 16750 for 116600?
I have a spider dial plexiglas 16750, no documents, and have been offered a trade for a 116600.
Yea or nay? |

Needless to say it’s personal preference. But I owned that sea dweller and sold it as I didn’t like it…If it were me I would keep the GMT.

100% yes to the trade from me.
I'm not a "vintage" guy in general, I dislike plexi/Hesalite crystals, and spider dials are just damaged IMO so I've never seen the appeal, whereas the 116600 is the one watch I deeply regret not buying when my AD had one sitting in the display case many years ago.

The SD4K is my all-time favorite watch
and while it wasnt a trade, one of the watches that went to a new home just before I got it was a spider dial 16750. So, yes for me and no regrets!

I would never do the trade. The 4- and 5-digit watches are all treasures to me.

They are such different references it’s almost impossible to know …
The SD4K will wear like a brick on your wrist compared for one thing. |

Nay.
And I have one 116600 SD4k too... which would be the first to go if I'm in dire straits! Your 16750 is the last true GMT. Keep it. |

Yes. All the way. Spider dials are only a spider dial for so long. Trade it and milk the premium someone is willing to pay for it. Once it ceases being a spider dial it’s definitely worth less. I say do it. I’m more of a 5 digit guy but not much of a believer in the spider dial trend.
Plus Sea dwellers are pretty awesome

I love the SD line but the 116600 did nothing for me. I would 100% keep the 16750

thank you all for the thought food. Still on the fence though. While I love the 16750, I almost never wear it. A 116600 would get much more wrist time.

Two very different watches. As an owner of 116600 for nearly 10 years now, I might be somewhat biased, but it’s a great reference that I’ve put through the wringer on a number of occasions and it’s still ticking just fine. It’s a proper utilitarian watch that will withstand just about anything (e.g. in my case various land & sea sports).

No wrong answer. It depends on what type of watch you want to wear. One is a classic and the other is a future classic.

Update: Trade offer has been rescinded, so I am keeping my 16750 for the time being.
Thanks all for the input. |
