Great watch and the sizing is fine for this type of watch. Unfortunately the type of brushing done on the ex2 bezel does make it prone to exactly what happened to you as the scratches come out much shinier than the bezel….but you have the right idea, it’s a watch made to be worn. Congrats on the pick up.

Slight premium? Doubtful.
Forum resellers do not let their watches go cheap. Wear in the best of health. |

Congrats! That’s the only watch I wear in the cockpit. Looks like a pilot watch with the orange hand on black dial, wrist presence yet without screaming Rolex on the layover. No shiny bezel of the GMT, but the steel bezel gives it a vintage flair. Of course the GMT hand is useful (keeping it on Zulu time) and the legibility is unsurpassed. Night flying, the big markers and hands glow like a torch

I don’t know of a single Rolex model that doesn’t have some sort of premium, large or small, attached to it if you’re buying outside of an AD. Considering the tax paid on a $9500 watch like the 226570 I’d rather pay a little extra (understanding that’s a relative term for each of us) to be able to enjoy it now than wait for… who knows how long. Everyone has a threshold they’re comfortable with. Mine certainly isn’t double or triple retail price some models still go for even after things have cooled down in the market.
I was lucky enough to get a BLRO from my AD after a 3 year wait and this was during peak hype for that model. I expected a long, long wait for that one, if ever. I stop in to my AD once or twice a month to say hi, I have for years, and expressed my interest in an ExpII when the new model was released. If they could give me a timeline on when they could get one I could accept that and likely wait it out. The answer of “we really have no idea when we’ll see one but can definitely let you know when we do” - and they would let me know - takes the fun out of it for me. That’s when you ring up TAKUYA, get the watch next day, and pick up an extra shift (or three, or five, whatever it may take if you want it bad enough) to offset the difference. I’m good with that, but to each their own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
