Help identifying two watches passed from grandfather

Hey folks-

These two watches were handed down to me from my grandfather when he passed away and I’d like to try and find out more information on them. In addition to trying to identify them I’m also looking to see if it’s possible to buy a link for the two tone bracelet as it’s too small to fit my wrist. I really appreciate your help in taking a look at this and volunteering any information you might have. Im new to the Citizen game but have a couple of Rolex watches that I have built up for myself over the years and it would be fantastic to have more background on these pieces, thanks in advance!

The larger number on the back of the Citizen is the serial number and you can date the watch with this the same way you can date a Seiko. The first 2 means probably 1982 or possibly 1992. If you look at the model reference number just above it, that will help you confirm. "Seven" is an old model name from their earliest day/dates, as I recall (for seven days in the week). It's gold plated and not really worth anything but should still run if there's not a leaked battery or other corrosion inside. Try Googling the bracelet ref number for a spare one, or another watch that you can cannibalise.

The second watch looks to be a branded giveaway or award watch, possibly from the United Overseas Bank (but that's just a guess after I Googled 'UOB').

That’s very helpful, thanks so much Adam! It would make sense that it’s a 1982 reference, I just disassembled the watch and cleaned it now I’m going to look at adding to or replacing the bracelet!

And that would make sense since he worked for a bank in New York, there was another watch with UOB branding so it was probably a giveaway or employee gift. Thanks again for the help

You're welcome. You might find there's an English option for days of the week, too. That should be a double quickset day/date (six years before Rolex Day Dates finally got double quickset in 1988!), and you can probably change the language if you pull the crown out one notch and give it a turn.

Wow, I knew it had English and Spanish for the date but that piece of history is pretty cool to know that Citizen delivered it well before Rolex. By the way, I was able to resize it using part of the clasp so I no longer need an extra link! Thanks so much for all the info, I really do appreciate it.

You're welcome.

(Seiko introduced double quickset day/date movement in 1968; I suspect Citizen wasn't far behind.)
