Impulse Buy Incoming!
My wife and I went to the mall last week so I could add the glidelock clasp to my James Cameron DSSD. It's a WOS that has (I think) an exclusive Rolex license now in Cincinnati since they took it away from James Free, but also has an adjacent store that sells second-hand watches (at a premium, of course). So while I was waiting for the AD to add the clasp to my watch, my wife wandered over to look in the cases, but didn't find anything she really liked (she already has a 32mm DJ, but was looking for something with a bit more heft).
Once the AD had finished with my watch, he told us to come in the back of the store, as he had something we might be interested in. I couldn't believe my eyes when he pulled out a two-toned rose gold 38mm Yachtmaster with a chocolate face. Literally the PERFECT watch for my wife. She didn't really know what it was, but tried it on, and fell in love. I told her we absolutely have to buy this or it will be gone within an hour or two. (There was also a nice blue-faced DJ that was gone by the next day). The AD brought us a couple glasses of champagne, sized it for her, and even gave us a cool green Rolex pen. She has tiny wrists, so the 38mm is perfect...much more wrist-presence than the small DJ, but not unwieldy. It also makes my Daytona look huge by comparison. I still can't believe our luck, as she definitely does not have the patience to play the waiting game but neither of us wanted to go the gray route either. She thinks it's a bit too "blingy" but I think the rose gold/chocolate dial combo is just perfect. It really was a true impulse buy, but nothing like going to the mall to run some errands and coming home with a brand new, AD-bought watch!
