Ophion - One of the best values out there

I have been a Voutilainen fan for some time and after a conversation about the aforementioned brand with a friend from Spain, I learned about Ophion. Though it would be dilusional to compare these two brands given the obvious superiority that Voutilainen has, I was immediately drawn by the Voutilainen-looking case with the tear-shaped lugs, which are actually produced by Voutilainen's case company. Long story short, ended up buying this watch. I am a bit nervous to be underwhelmed given the price disparity vis-a-vis the rest of my collection.

Would appreciate it if anyone could share any thoughts about the brand.

Congrats on ordering an Ophion! I’ve had mine for several months and I’m very pleased. Top notch build quality and awesome wearability. Miguel was very easy to deal with and communication was good throughout the process. Post a pic when it arrives.

Thanks! I was also torn between the salmon and white/silver. I still am. Both are equally great. Mine came with the brown strap, but I ordered an extra strap in navy that you see in my photo. I look forward to seeing yours.

I've been curious about them too. Can anyone comment on what they stack up to quality wise? (comparable brands)

I'm also a proud owner, mine being salmon. Definitely my favorite color!

In regards to comparing quality, I just don't think there's much comparable in this price segment. I'd say it punches way above it's price range, the details are so plenty, and all the parts are there. Good dial, good case, good movement. It's just the complete package. And loads of wonderful details.

Such great shots. Love the details on the dial. Reminds me of some vintage, well-made pocket watches!

Thanks for sharing!

I got the salmon dial with blue strap.

I only have one regret. I should have upgraded the strap to alligator.

Thanks to your pic OP, now am thinking of getting a brown strap.

Do you have a picture with a blue strap by chance? Having second thoughts on the brown strap.

Yeah I disagree. Those bridges look cheesy and the watch overall looks like it's trying too hard to combine replicate elements from many other watch brands especially the very obvious one from 1775. I personally don't believe in value proposition watches over $500 maybe $800 max. The price is $3500 and you can get many other well known brands that can qualify for "value" relative to your budget. I thought your post said "Opinion" then I saw that it was the name of the watch which can also easily be mistaken for "Onion". The name is bad and it looks like something from a kickstarter campaign. Ok I'm done ripping on it, if you like it that's all that should matter anyways.

Watch is upstairs. Will wear it later.

I may have posted in TRF before also.

But i recommend you upgrade to croco/alligator. I think EUR80 worth it.

I can't speak for the normal leather strap, but the alligator is definitely very nice.

Just saw this brand, thinking about ordering. Love the art deco look and the Kari inspired design and casework

Ophion velos winding

I have a velos 786 with salmon dial and blue croc strap that is my new fav. Question. When winding it does not have a “stop” feature. Does anyone know approx. how many turns to full power thanks, oliver

A lot of turns. I haven't been counting though.
When it's fully wound, one can hear a subtle "clicking" sound when winding further, which is the sound of the clutch stopping the mainspring from being wound further.

It's a TechnoTime TT718 movement.

https://watchbase.com/technotime/caliber/tt-718-00

The original factory when bankrupt around 2019 or 2020, and the design and equipment was bought by Soprod, who now makes and supplies the movement to Ophion.
The bridges are designed for and by Ophion, and only used by them.
