$27k purchase history to pass for a Daytona? That’s pretty good, you actually made a good choice by having a Daytona in your list, but I would only go for it if really needed.

Did you ask the AD you're looking at what they will be charging for the watch you want?

I'm in Riyadh (same ownership) and the AD's here charge over retail on the hot watches. $22,600 for a steel Daytona and around $14000 for Submariner Date last I asked in June.

No reason to wait months for the AD if the gray market dealers aren't much more.

^^X2. It’s the only way it’s gonna happen. This watch is not going to get any easier to get over time.

I'd go grey and cut the AD games. I'm thinking of doing the same. But I also wouldn't pay the US$35-40k that grey dealers and flippers are currently commanding. This is no more than a US$32k watch (double retail and some change for your trouble).

Come to Japan get your Panda here. I just checked one grey shop, they have brand new Panda for 34k (at today's exchange rate).

My apparently contrarian view is that the Daytona is Rolex’s best watch, and by a long margin. My opinion is shared too, since even way back in the 90s zenith period the SS weren’t easy to acquire, and now these are trading at anything between 3 and 5x list. OP, you may wish to raise your offer to between 27 and 29k, that should glean better results in today’s market. Or alternatively wait, and it’ll be a craps shoot if they go lower.

If 27k purchase history is all it takes to get a Daytona, I’ll take that up in a heartbeat. I’ve spent over 50k and my AD still gives me that ‘interest list’ crap.
