If tomorrow John Mayer said this is his favorite steel watch, it would probably jump to $28k overnight.

This is the watch I've been on. Waiting list for elsewhere in the UK for a few months and agree with others here is is massively underrated

Only you can decide. It’s a very nice watch but the only YM I like is the retired platinum dial.

The other yachtmaster I like is the slate dial but I do slightly lean to the blue...just think it has that sparkle and shine.

I didn't like the YM before I saw one in the flesh and I was quite impressed. Have you read my thoughts about it?

I actually like this reference, depending what else is in the collection I’d say it’s a buy

appreciate all the comments so far. Can any current owners talk to the durability of the bezel? does is show scratches easily? currently I have an Explorer I & DJ41 that have polished bezels and I find scratches mostly are hidden by the light reflecting.

I don't think the YM40 would be the same though as the bezel is not polished obviously.

The bezel of my 116622 is holding up fine after 7 1/2 years and tons of wrist time.

Any micro-scratches will be taken care of at the overhaul and it will come out looking like new. The RSC have a special machine for the job.

Both the rhodium and the blue are lovely looking watches.
The blue is probably my favourite!

I asked about the availability of it at Christmas. Got told it was in demand etc.
Maybe things really are settling down.

A friend of mine picked up a new Rolex recently.
He was on the list, but didn’t get a call. He just happened to walk in the store and it was on display. When he asked about it, they said they might be able to make it available…. He picked it up a couple of days later.
