Z and M's in general have the same lighter color from my observation. F and earlier tend to have the darker, more purple shades.

The angle and intensity of light at which the dials are viewed also seem to make a significant difference.

Here is a terrible picture I took with my old phone at my AD in the States. The one on the left was my Z serial number. The one on the right was an M on display at the AD. There was definitely a difference. Everybody there was shocked and in agreement. Mine was darker and richer in hue.

So is there a rule of thumb for which serial #'s are dark/light, whatever? I was considering a bluesy purchase later this year and was hoping to buy at lowest price from an out of state AD, without seeing the actual watch.

Before I bought mine, I did a bit of research by looking at the watches in AD windows all over the place. All of the M and my own V serial watches had the lighter dial which I prefer. All of the Z serials that I have seen had the darker blue.
