I suppose for that to make sense financially, on the demand side at least, Rolex would need to have thought (1) the OP desire was displacing desire from other pieces it would prefer to sell; (2) taking away the OP colors would restore a net profitable amount of desire in those other pieces. Meanwhile, we also have a QC theory in this thread. If true, perhaps that contributed to supply-side cost considerations in the decision as well.
