James Bond Watch Collection

Probably been done to death over the years but just for refreshment here is a link I found online that lists them all.

Isn’t the Explorer the original Bond watch, per Ian Fleming’s books?

I believe the Explorer was Ian Fleming's personal watch.

Not a Rolex topic per se, but interesting that, despite the franchise's portrayal of the Japanese (and Asians in general) in earlier films, Seiko still chose to place its watches in later ones.

It's been a while since I read the books, but I don't believe it specified anything beyond "Rolex chronometer."

Edit: Found it -

The final novel, You Only Live Twice, is rather biting about European racism towards Asians. It's a brilliantly written book in general.

Correct. People assume Explorer because Fleming mentions 'luminous numerals' at one point and he owned an Explorer himself, but the only thing explicitly indicated is that it's an Oyster Perpetual.

There is also a really awful fake Fleming quote about Rolex that makes the rounds here and on other forums, as well as clickbait watch sites, that I will not repeat. I will just say that if Fleming wrote as poorly as the author of the fake quote praising Rolex, I wouldn't have read any of his books.
