Finally! Enter to play the game

Popped into my local AD to catch up with my SA whilst I was in town. Appointment was booked as I knew I was going to be in town.

Guess I kinda lucked out with my SA as the previous one got transferred to a boutique and now manages that store and I got transferred to another SA within the parent group.

Previous SA says he'll do his best to get me looked after, but there's only so much he can do.

Been aiming for a DJ36, fluted and oyster, green dial since early this year and a everose YM40. Neither a peep. Not really the hype pieces AFAIK.

When I popped in, we had a catch up and I mentioned that I've been looking at a Gronefeld Deltaworks, Sartoy Billard, basically a few big-ish to big hitters of the indie world. Their eyes lit up cos they knew the indie watches command a higher price and most don't have a finance payment plan.

the SA mentioned about the ring I was looking for my partner and once I get a deposit in, within a few months I'll be able to put down a deposit for the DJ36 and a planned 2023 pick up.

Finally, they show their cards. I'm happy to wait. In no rush. At least I now know.

Why did you not go with your old SA, who is now managing a boutique.

You already have a connection with SA and no BS of buying jewellery or other items to get, as you say “ able to put down a deposit for the DJ36”

The new boutique that my old SA moved to is part of the same family owned chain. It's an Omega boutique. As he's not in the main store with Rolex, there's only so much influence he can have and Omegas currently don't tickle me enough.

It's either buy jewellery to move on up the list/ buy omega and since it's the same system/ chain, that can also go towards my history or just wait it out.

And yes, I have also epressed interest at a few other local AD's

You never said it was an Omega boutique, I just assumed Rolex.

I’ve never bought an item of jewellery or other brand of watch, nor will I ever, in the hope of getting put on a list or the promise in the future of getting a watch.

It’s your money and your choice and I hope you get the DJ you are after, but not the games I want to get involved in with any AD.

I would still keep trying other local AD’s

Is this DMR? If so, all you need to do is buy DMR jewellery and you'll eventually get what you want depending on how much of their own jewellery you buy. They're not shy about it either...

My bad. End of the day it's a watch and as cool as it would be to get my DJ, if I do commit and one of my indies wishlist come through, my attention would be going to those.

Yes. Yeah, looking at some jewellery. Just waiting for my partner to make their mind up on when we're going and what they like.

I find it strange that you need to buy jewelry for a DJ36. Perhaps because the green dial is more popular?

In any case, I'm glad you're making progress and hope you get the watch you want

Look, most of us are going to buy some jewelry...at some point...I myself don't do much self-adorning but many in my family do.

If the purchase can help leverage a Rolex purchase what's the harm?

I ordered a custom ring for my wife last Christmas. Yes, I probably could have
purchased it in a number of places but my AD was a natural choice. Beautiful ring.
Nice sale for them. Nice Christmas all around...

No need to spell out a return consideration...it's understood that when that happens, it happens...

I've bought jewelry too. But it's the spend that matters. My paltry $2k is a drop in the bucket when AD demands 50k

It's never ending. Although Armand is mega cool and sends over renders of what it can look like.
