How long was it before you ...
As a new Rolex owner in love with my watch I wear it 24/7 if possible. However, many new Rolex owners were WIS before their first Rolex as was I. They probably already had a collection of other watches before achieving their Rolex.
I was wondering how long after getting their Rolex they "voluntarily" chose to wear another of their watches. By "voluntarily" I mean they made a conscious decision to wear another watch, not because circumstances dictated. For example, I wear my new GMT as much as possible but cannot wear it on certain work assignments. This is because in some situation I am interacting with a low wage group of employees for whom the Rolex would be a distraction and change their perception of me to the point of hindering my ability to educate them (don't ask it is complicated). On those trips I still wear it on the plane and change back into it when I get in my hotel room but cannot wear it during the day. Instead I wear a timex or sometimes a plastic luminox. However, I have yet to choose to not wear my Rolex in a situation where I could. Of course it has only been about two weeks. I am interested to hear others experience... |

I wear my Sub when I'm at family outings and stuff. My Datejust with diamonds are only worn at formal parties where everyone is of course flaunting too.

Drawtool,
Wish I could do that but would not work. I am there to educate them not motivate them and it would interfere. Trust me I have seen others in similar fields as mine have issues. |

Get an Explorer 1 and wear that in those situations. I wear mine to work, as I'm a landscraper, and nobody else knows it is a Rolex. When I get home, a 1680 goes on my wrist!

I wear mine everywhere and anywhere. I've had two comments in 15 years.

I appreciate the responses so far but really was not looking to discuss whether it was acceptable to wear a Rolex in certain situations but rather when was the first time new Rolex owners chose to wear another of their watches and left the Rolex at home, just because they wanted to wear the other watch.

Wear mine anywhere I go.
As I've said before, I'm certain none of us will be on our death beds saying, "Ah, I wish I'd worn my Rolex less often!" |

I used to wear about 5 different brands but now I'm a "one-brand" guy.........It was hard to wear the others since I really like the Rolex sport models.

I wear my Sub all the time and lately to bed. It has been -4 seconds a day until I left it on 24/7 and now it is +1. Only time I don't wear it is on weekly golf outing though I think it could hold up.

All of my friends and employees know I am a watch nut and don't give it another thought. Been a watch nut since I got my first watch at age six. I will wear a Rolex, Omgea or some vintage watch to work ...some worth thousands and some worth tens, as not even worth a $100.00. Most days I do wear a Rolex or Omgea to work.
I don't really care what others think ...I buy watches to please me. Side note, my Son-in-Law never really worn watches until I gave him a couple of Russians and later a TT Sub, my son, I have given some watches to from my collection(non-Rolex) and he nevers seems to have one on. There is about ten years age difference between them. My daughter always has on her YM and got into watches when I gave her first Swatch.(pre-teen) |

have loveed timepieces (both watches and clocks) since i was in grade school (the EARLY 60's). Can't wear them @ work too well (construction= banged up, electrician = a nasty electrode that conducts all too well) but wear and enjoy then @ all other times.

Actually my Tag Heuer S/El gets much more attention than any of the Rolexes. Go figure!
The few times the Rolexes were noticed were by other enthusiasts. I'm lucky my work environment does not restrict me in terms of what would be acceptable to wear. |

All this being said, I find it distubing that for whatever reason a man or woman feels they cannot wear the wristwatch of their choice. |

Thinking back to my first Rolex, I think I had it on for a few months before I started rotating back to my other watches ... These days though I wear both Rolex and non-Rolex, but with a Rolex bias.

The only times I was concerned for my watch was my first time walking around the Red Light district in Amsterdam. I had no idea what to expect so I locked it in the safe. The other was when I took a train to Yankee stadium in the Bronx. I took it off and kept it in my pocket. It was for the World Series. After a while, I saw a bunch of others with Rolexes on. Nobody paid any attention to them so I felt better.

I wear my DJ anywhere with a few exceptions. If ever concerned o just roll down my sleeve and push the watch higher up on the arm but that I have only done once or twice.....
