Random AD story.

So, talked to someone earlier. Adding another watch to my waitlist.

Anyway, talking about the randomness of the watches they recieve. Told me one weekly shipment included TEN GREEN 0P 41's. And nothing else.

Nutty.

I have been told by ADs that Rolex SA sends whatever watches they feel like sending and whenever they want to - this really is an extreme example of that ! Wow. Imagine the SA's gathering around that shipment and then seeing 10 green OP 41's pop out !

This is what my AD (Canada) told me as well.
They do not know which references they would receive.
The head office would receive them and then assign to the sales associates.
Hard to believe.

pretty sure this is commonplace for most ADs (the randomness, not the 10 green op, haha).

I guess we’ve all heard about shipments being a random assortment, but I have a hard time believing this story. Why would Rolex do that?

Makes sense! About a month ago when I got my OP green, at around the same time across reddit and here I saw no less than 5-6 topics about receiving the OP green.

Then just recently I've seen at least 3-4 topics pop up about receiving the batman. They roll out some of these in batches I think

She said it's like Christmas once a week. They have no idea what they are getting!

Rolex AD makes an order
What actually comes in and get fulfilled is decided Rolex.
But no, they don’t send 10 OP 41s green or random
Rolex AD gets an invoice 15-30 days prior to shipment with net 39 terms
Thsts what happens

The AD knows what is coming. No surprises.

Amazing, the the AD’s say they don’t know what their allocations will be, yet numerous posters here have crystal clarity about how the process works.

Maybe elsewhere. But not mine. The biggest (based on stores) in Florida.

1. Real, true, randomness at distribution center.

2. Replace "randomness" with "drunkenness" above.

3. Rolex is said to release in batches, the OP41 color options were reduced by nearly 50%, so perhaps batches that originally would have had the four lacquer colors in them now only have one.

I think it depends on how specific you're getting in terms of configuration and delivery window. Guessing they know 90%+ of the references they'll receive throughout the quarter/year, with no idea of exact timeframe or configuration.

Obviously single-configuration references are easier to gauge (Exp, SD, TT/RG GMT, YG YM, AK) specific allocation numbers for.

Also makes sense if the branch itself isn't responsible for placing orders with Rolex and that happens at corporate level.

There is an order process that an AD uses to request watches...but most just have the grey dealers fill it out and send it in for them.

I’ve often wondered if its more like: they know there will be a mix of professional and non professional models, they just don’t know how many of each …

"Ten green OPs in one delivery" is a nice way of saying we do not get enough SS sports for serious consideration of selling them to most customers. Market may turn and the whole buying experience at ADs will be good for most folks, buying history or not.

I think it's not only random from Rolex distribution, it's also kinda random how the store distributes to each employee/customer, then the employees distribute to customers.

Feels like no rhyme or reason sometimes.
