Need help deciding between a PAM 005 versus PAM 01084
So the PAM 005 would be my ideal watch as it checks off all the boxes for me (sausage/painted dial, solid caseback, base model with seconds hand, 44mm, etc). However it is discontinued and the used prices are creeping up towards the 5K mark. To be honest, my BIGGEST concern is counterfeits and I am not sure if the 005 was heavily counterfeited over other models.
The 01084 is the newest iteration, I believe. Not a huge fan of the pressed in versus screw in caseback and the drop in WR to 100M, but not a huge concern as I do not plan on using it in the water. Aside from that, it is aesthetically very close with the exception of no “Marina” on the dial. Seems that you can find a 10% discount off the $5,700 MSRP and it comes with an 8 year warranty. I am not sure if the P.6000 CALIBRE movement is better or worse than the movement in the 005. Just looking for any advice or thoughts on the matter. Thanks, everyone! |

Personally I’d go 111 over the 005. Exhibition case back and sausage dial on early models.

getting at a very good price and with 8 years warranty. Both the 005 and the 111 are very good watches but you have to make sure that it comes with the boxes, accessories, and papers as it is an easy watch to counterfeit. And the day you are going to sell it, finding an individual is very difficult and a dealer will offer you no more than $3,000. It is my humble opinion, and I respect that of the other friends of the forum. Luck!! |

I prefer older to newer. I have a 111 and vote for it.

Another vote for a 111
Buy from a well respected dealer and you wont have issues with its authenticity If its a toss up between the two models you mentioned, I'd go with a pre owned 01084 (again, from a respected dealer) and save yourself some cash over buying it new A quick glance at C24 shows a couple of 01084s from Pro Dealers around the $4k USD mark If money isnt a big concern, go the 005 from a dealer

The whole press back 100m thing rubs me the wrong way, the 005 is the way to go

Of those two, definitely the 005. That pressed back thing is not something I would want in what is essentially a dive watch.

I think you will like pam 776. It's basically the new version of 005. I am planning to buy one too, and i also look advice on the p6000 movement, especially on its accuracy.
