Help with dating Submariner 16610
Hey guys! Merry Christmas to my fellow Rolex owners. Excitingly, my 5 year journey of trying to find a sub homage that would scratch the itch ended today….because I finally acquired a Rolex Submariner! There’s nothing like the real thing!
Anyhoo…I’m trying to find out more about my submariner, in particular the date of manufacture. I’ve been researching but hoping to hear from more knowledgeable folks…. It’s a Y serial number, it does NOT have the Rolex crown etched in the crystal at 6 o’clock, it does have lug holes and the dial is a superluminova (not Tritium) “Swiss made” rather than “Swiss” only. No rehaut engraving either. I’ve narrowed it down to 2001/2002/2003 but I’d like to get more of an accurate date based on your knowledge. I also want to get a bracelet for it as it came head only. I didn’t know if the period correct bracelet was a 93150 hollow end link or the 93250 solid end link….but I’m leaning towards the latter. So…anyone able to help? Which year do you think it was made and what is the period correct bracelet? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats! Pictures would help, most likely if Y serial came with 93250 bracelet but you can put a 93150 too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

He says it came as a head only; no bracelet, so no clasp.

The best you'll be able to do is 2002/2003 area. F serial started in 2003 as well FYI.
The bracelet should be the SEL 93250. Check the case as Padi suggested. As another member said, the 93150 will also fit. It's bit lighter feeling than the 93250 if that matters to you.

It came head only. But it does have the SEL groove machined into the case as mentioned earlier. So that’s a good confirmation that it came with a SEL bracelet. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you guys for all your input. It still is a little confusing because some sources will say it’s from 01 and some will say it’s from 03. I have googled so many 2001 and 2003 Submariners and I can find the identical specs in both years, but much more common in the 02. So I’m inclined to think it’s a 2002… however, I was married in 2001 and so I’d really like to think it’s from 2001! Lol, then I can tell people that my watch is as old as my marriage… And just as pleasant!
